Should Tyson have re-matched Douglas before prison?

    That doesn't mean squat, Douglas at that time was the fighter that had sparked him out. Tyson should have tried his best to avenge that defeat, it's no good letting Holyfield do your dirty work.

    Tyson couldnt fight Douglas because Douglas refused him a rematch even getting more money and actually used ( I REMEMBER THIS) that he wont fight him again bc get this... HE DIDNT LIKE THAT TYSON SAID HE GOT LUCKY AND DOUGLAS HAD A LONG COUNT along with King trying to over turn the fight bc of the contraversial ring count...which Douglas felt disrespected,even so thats why the fight never happened!

    Yep that's right the rematch never happened because Douglas was disrespected ? :babeando:

    On top of that he thought Holyfield was a more winnable fight ( OBVIOUSLY ) and probably wouldnt look forward to facing a steamed Tyson, if you doubt that go watch the first guy AFTER that Douglas fight he fought..lol. Not fighting Tyson gave Douglas his lazy lifestyle and he ballooned up...

    This is what would have happened in any Tyson rematch he took.... ! :boxing1

    Sources please, Douglas stated he would have knocked Tyson out quicker in a rematch, i believe him.

    The real question, is "why didn't Douglas rematch Tyson".

    Oh yes there was!

    Douglas basically became so disgusted by King's attempts to cheat him out of the title by the back door, that he said "OK sue me then", and took the fight with Holyfield.

    Oh no there wasn't, Don King wanted the rematch but there was no rematch clause.

    Douglas definitely broke his contract by not giving the rematch.

    It was all over tv and newspapers of the time kermit...if u had been around youd know....tyson and king tried everything to get sn instant rematch...but the duvas and co saw a chance for the first time in 18 years to break don kings stranglehold on hw boxing....the holy fight gave douglas 24 million reasons to avoid a tyson rematch.

    Tyson would have flattened buster in one ,seldon,stewart fashion

    I've never agreed that it was that big a shock.
    If he'd lost to Sammy Shaff or David Jaco, *that* would have been a shock.
    But absolutely anyone can lose to a top tier journeyman on an off night.

    How did he get away with that? I would think that even sitting on the title he'd have less industry clout than Tyson.
