What's the holdup with Mikey Garcia? How come he's not taking the Linares fight?

Eric Gomez of Golden Boy publicly "put the ball in Garcia's court" by offering the Linares fight with no conditions or options. Just a one-off straight up. That was a from a tweet like a week ago.

So what's the hold up from Mikey Garcia? is he afraid of Jorge Linares? He don't want that work?

I want to see that fight.

Was 90% certain to happen according to Linares. I know that most times we heard that from one of the fighters lately it didn't happen, but at least Linares himself seems to think it does.

    I sure hope not.
But he fits the bill. One of my favorite fighters, exciting style, becomes a star, turns diva, stops being one of my favorite fighters.

    :lol:Kinda same here.
I dint like him that much leading up to 2016 but he delivered vs. Zlaticanin and talked a good game.
And post Broner its all downhill. Ugh.

Looks like Mikey turned the fight down in preference for another fight.

He rejected Golden Boy's 50/50 offer, says he'll make as good a guaranteed purse (for less risk) against somebody else on the 27th of January. He's run out of excuses, he wasn't required to give GB future options, he's ducking the best in his division. Of course he'll make more as the Showtime A-side, when the opponent's getting 1/5 of the purse split.

This shows why you can't get the big fights while being a promotional free agent. You can't demand more against a top opponent when you don't have someone to back you up.

He says he'll try to negotiate for Linares again after his next fight. Maybe he takes the same 50/50 offer, after making some easy money first. But I won't get my hopes up. I'm with @Robney, I'm done with him.

Garcia and most of the fighters today do not fight for the fans, only for the money!
