    Another poll with 71,004 votes

The scoring of the showdown between Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez has got the boxing world debating, but what do YOU think?

Should 'Triple G' been given the decision?

Did 'Canelo' win "seven or eight" rounds as he suggested?

Or was the stalemate the correct decision?

    10%
Alvarez won by UD (7101 votes)

If it's an immediate rematch, I'm as happy as the next guy. I was talking about what I'd do if I was handling Canelo.

Lol....this guy must be high. Apparently he’s a “boxing guru” and is NOT a fan of Alvarez? I can’t make this stuff up

Shadow just stands for truth and justice in boxing, man!

    Nothing personally involved with Canelo.

It's just that Canelo has a history with getting bad decisions, like in his fight with Mayweather, where he should have gotten a draw, according to Shadow. And Canelo only got a draw in the fight against GGG, where he should have won, according to Shadow.

Shadow's just standing against all the corruption in boxing, man!

This is the most interesting poll out of them all because it gets to what you were talking about, whether or not most people thought it was close. It's only 86 people total, so that's a very small sample size, but still only 6 people gave G more than 8 rounds.

About half had it 8-4 for Gennady, and the way I look at 8-4 is that it's right on the border of close vs decisive. You could have a fight 8-4 but if you give 2 close rounds to the winner that's pretty close to a draw. Of those 41 people who thought it was 8-4, I doubt all of them or even a majority of them would deny that it was a close fight. Still, even if you take all the 8-4s + the 9-3s that's still not an overwhelming majority. That's just a slight majority. If you split the 8-4s for G in terms of close vs clear you have a minority that thought it wasn't close.

But that's an interesting poll. Now what I want you to pay attention to Drama is the comments on that poll. Go through the comments on the Scene Poll and if you do that, you'll find that the overwhelming majority of posts on those 4 pages make it known that they thought it was a close fight. Just read the posts under that poll. One poster said on page 1 "The only respectable scores are 115-113 either way or a draw." So just read those posts, and you only got a few 8-4s for G, the rest are all close and one guy, StudentOfDaGame said he had it a clear win for Canelo. (Post #12) I like that comment, and no that's not me lol.

You really see a good variety of generally close scores there in the comments. So I think that poll and comments suggest that the majority thought it was a close fight, or at least it's inconclusive based on the amount of 8-4s. And remember, that only 86 people, that could be 60 or 70 Triple G fans for all we know. What is clear though is that more people voting, the vast majority, in several polls thought that Gennady won, but remember that's not what we're debating. You were arguing that most people thought that G won clearly and decisively, that the overwhelming majority thought that. Just because the overwhelming majority thought that G won doesn't mean that all those people who voted he won thought he won clearly and decisively. That still remains an unknown in straight up "who won" polls. One thing's for sure, there's not too many people who are arguing that G won more than 8 rounds. And there's not an overwhelming majority of those that had it wider than 7-5 for TG. I'm really not here to argue with you Drama. What I'm saying is not unreasonable and I'm not clowning around. This is boxing, we're talking boxing, take a look at those comments and lets see what you have to say about them.

Of course you look at 8-4 as “close” in this fight with GGG/Alvarez. I didn’t think you’d say otherwise. Had 80% felt Alvarez won you wouldn’t be here arguing “the fight was close”. Lol. You’re transparent shadow....Like a clean window

If 80% thought Canelo hd won he'd be waxing lyrical about how Alvarez cleans up Hagler, Monzon, Greb and the rest of 160's legands with his "head snapping, bone crunching power shots".

noone actually claimed that the guy who drew with 3G can beat Hagler/Monzon.

However there are some claiming the guy who drew with Canelo can clean up versus Hagler Monzon et al.

Funny that. Its the OPPOSITE of how you think it is.
