Wilder only has himself to blame if he cannot land a big fight.

Wlad, Haye and Vitali were all available as big fights for Wilder during his career.

He never stepped up and never took one.

He should have been what AJ is now, and the shoe should be on the other foot.

I personally want to see AJ vs Wilder, like most other boxing fans....but there is a part of me that seriously wants to see Wilder get a ridiculously low cut of the fight, he simply hasn't 'earned it'.

I understand that people don't want 'economics' to get in the way of a potential big fight....but giving fighters underserved fights/cuts sets a bad precedent.

Take Daniel Dubois as an example. A young british upcoming heavyweight....he could adapt the 'Wilder' model and fight poor opposition for 30 fights and KO them all, earn a world title shot against a guy isn't even a top 10 and then become the holder of a belt he doesn't deserve.

Wilder is a embarrassment to most americans, they are now pretending not to know who he is.

On Saturday night he fought a tub of butter to take his record to 39 wins With 39 bums, the guy has been fighting for nine years and is yet to step up.

AJ's next ring walk song should be.

Seriously, how can you hate Joshua more than Wilder at this point? The guy's been giving Mo Farah a run for his money for the last decade and you for some unknown reason seem pretty intent on giving him a pass for his BS.

FWIW I don't like those coronating AJ as some ATG either but he's a damn sight better a champion than that bum slaying instagram warrior from 'Bama.

I don't hate AJ, but he and especially Hearn clearly are not thrilled with the idea of facing Wilder, and are looking like ducking b****es, there's no denying that. I never defend anything Wilder does, Povetkin and Ortiz tested positive, he was signed to fight them, that's the reality. Unless you and everyone else is a conspiracy theorist.

'Bama? Really? Come on, why do you want to come across sounding like a smarmy elitist and bigot. There's nothing wrong with Alabama, its a beautiful state, with beautiful people.

Do people really believe that after 9 years of fighting no top 10 guys, Wilder now wants to fight the best in the division?

Stiverne has already announced he is not retiring and he "will be back". I guess he will take another 3 year layoff and come back for the trilogy when he's 42.

I agree....it was a risk for Wilder who was still “learning on the job” so to speak. He didn’t think or his camp didn’t think he was ready at that stage of his career. Some fighters in Wilders position would have taken the risk, but he made the choice to continue building his resume fighting guys who were safer. It’s a catch 22.

He’s got a great looking record and a sexy KO ratio, but now that he’s in his prime and at his peak, physically....he’s not in a position to call shots amongst the other world champions. Wilder just has to keep it moving....keep winning and eventually the big fights will come by process of elimination.

The problem is where Joshua took the risk with Wald, it paid off big time. That’s why they said the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. Wilder didn’t take the big risks so he’s relegated to reaping the small rewards.

Think my eyes are getting tired. I just read this thread title as
Wilder only has himself to blame if he cannot land a big right.

You could of fooled me with a lot of your posts.

He never wanted to face Povetkin but a get out of jail free card fell in his lap. They then targeted Ortiz as they knew he was old but then again jumped at the chance to cancel the fight when an opportunity to present itself to give us the fight they'd been trying to sell for the last year but no one had been willing to buy: Stiverne.

Wilder has conducted himself like the biggest ***** the heavyweight division has seen in living memory with his pathetic level of competition yet I don't see you giving him ****. It's bizarre.

And I don't see what's so offensive about saying 'Bama but then again I'm not from the States so am prob lacking the context to see where you're coming from with that last paragraph. I have made jokes about the south on these very boards before though so may be on to something there.
