How much shorter than Joe Louis is Sam Langford in this picture?

Looks about 5'7" but it looks like Langford has exaggerated posture while Louis is slouching a little so maybe he really was his reported 5'6"

 

Fighting condition Louis looks every bit as big as Foreman and Norton there, maybe bigger!

 

I enjoyed the sarcasm there

 

The interesting thing is now we can see how Langford matches up to Foreman!

 

Langford is leaning backwards and slightly in the shade so he would appear shorter than he really was.

Louis is wearing his well known cowboy boots that he always wore for sparring, actually Langford is ,"easily as big as Louis".

 

Langford may have been taller than Louis BC the technology back then in pictures and some film wasn't equally dispersed by skills. The photos themselves can't fit the actual fighters aura from those days so still pics are distorted.

This would shrink the fighters,Sullivan for instance was probably closer to 6'4 230. Guys back back then the old school fighters were just as big its just ppl don't want to give credit and fabricate size...size this and that.

 

People tend to shirk a little in old age. Nice Photo, and one I have not seen.

Louis is already 6'2 , Langford was around 5' 7 .Why would the pixels expand vertically at max level? Hotshot?

 

oh i see u mean they make the difference a little less but the ratio the same?

rather than change one not the other.
