When was in his 20s and still developing he mixed it and defended the wbo strap vs Sanders and Brewster that in 03 and 04 would wreck Wilder. He wasn't knocked down by any fringe cans you'll notice.
That was more than two years ago. Wilder has scored five KOs since then. Wlad has fought twice and lost miserably both times. Times change. Wlad was on top then. Tyson Fury was still skinny. Hughie Fury didn't have Zits. Everyone thought Povetkin and Ortiz were clean. Czar Glazkov was a mandatory. People on this board were insisting Charles Martin was the best American heavyweight based on his Youtube videos. Ahh, the good old days.
Ahh I see what you are trying to do now....changing the course of your post intention. I have stated facts, up until the Fury fight Wlad was beating better opposition than what Wilder has been and since done. Who has Wilder faced better than either Pulev or Jennings which his last 2 victories prior to Fury? Who like?......Purrity? A fight in which Wlad totally dominated only to punch himself out? Sure you can have that, but ironically Purrity would be one of tge best fighters Wilder has fought. As for Brewster and Sanders they are more proven than Wilder, they've beaten better opposition.
Regardless of his resume lacking big names, he's holding a title. If Wilder wasn't calling out Joshua that would be more of a problem because that would mean he's unwilling to challenge himself or put up his portion of the title he holds up against the consensus top world heavyweight champion. You may not be keen on his approach to securing the unification bout with Joshua, but trash talk and being braggadocious is how most top boxers promote themselves or get them the fights they want. If Wilder is just looking to "cash out" then he will most likely lose and be a distance memory amongst boxing fans....but the fight makes sense because what we are seeking in one unified champion.
Wwilder has scored knockouts of **** poor caliber fighters...wlad has not. Wlad has lost too TOP guys,Wilder hasn't fought them yet.... boxing 101...smh
That may be true....but they aren't world champions at this point. Unfortunately Ortiz wasn't allowed to test Wilder but that's not Deontay's fault. It should have happened but Wilder did what he had to do which was find a replacement and win. His antics and flamboyant style isn't my cup of tea, but I understand he's just in character trying to create some buzz.
Wlad's done. Glazkov is gone. Fury is 100 pounds heavier and been out of the ring nearly is long as this video's been up. You guys are living in the past. The question is who will Joshua fight next in 2018? Not what Wlad thought two years ago.
The only thing that remains a constant in the heavyweight division since that video was posted in 2015 and today is that Deontay Wilder is STILL the WBC Heavyweight champion. And the guys who were on top then are on the outside looking in.
If AJ knocks out wilder then I think blizzy will need to be put on suicide watch in case he’s abit too upset
I agree with you. It's a business tactic...if the step aside money doesn't make sense, it wouldn't be viable. But there's more money in a higher profile fight where the step aside money would be absorbed into the revenues the bigger fight would generate. The chances of Wilder beating Joshua has little to do with a fighters decision to take step aside money. It's basically free money for doing absolutely nothing while having a placemat for a shot at the world title.
Actually, I don't think any Wilder fans would be upset if Joshua knocked him out. That would mean the two best heavyweights in their primes fought and a winner was decided cleanly. On the contrary, if Wilder knocked out Joshua, I think there would true hysteria, especially on this board. Because I've never seen so many fans arguing against a fight between the two best sluggers in any division in their primes. Joshua fans REALLY don't want to see this fight take place. This week has made that totally clear. I thought after Saturday, once the decks were cleared, everyone would be up for it. Guess not.
For the first time you have spoken some sense. Those last 6 lines you wrote i full agree with,I Just dont understand Why Wilder does not take the Whyte Fight.Imagine the demand their will be after he knocks out Whyte in London.Whyte dosent have any tools to beat Wilder unless he does a David Haye where his foot goes. The Demand will be too much for Hearn and AJ to ignore. He will then be able to ask for a larger pot of money. He's been fighting bums for the last decade,Whyte is a bum but he's one that comes with rewards,so i dont understand.
He's viewed that way but it's unfortunately not on the table. Tyson Fury has been out of the ring for an extended period of time due to personal issues. He's making a comeback but Joshua, Wilder and Parker can't wait on Fury. He may not come back? No one knows so the paper champions have to work on making those titles relevant by fighting each other.
I’m an AJ fan and I want this fight as it’s something that’s needs to happen, I know some wilder fans won’t be too upset but I bet blizzy will be.
But who has he actually fought in the last few years since then? Here’s his last 10 opponents stretching back 4 years, well before and after that stinging criticism from Klitschko. They don’t exactly scream quality, mediocre or even almost average do they. The only reason you or anyone knows them at all is because they appear in Wilders resume. In fact the only question to ask in all cases is WHO? Bermane Stiverne Gerald Washington Chris Arreola Artur Szpilka Johann Duhaupas Eric Molina Bermane Stiverne Jason Gavern Malik Scott Nicolai Firtha
