We never saw this one. By 1949, Moore had beaten Bivins and Johnson. Suppose he meet Louis in 1949, one year before Charles soundly defeated Louis. How do you see this match going?
Moore was still under 180lbs in 49 and he never had the footspeed of a Conn or the chin.It depends more on what condition a past prime Louis rounds himself into than anything else imo .Too many intangibles to give a definitive answer
I'm not sure if he tried to make the match or not. Moore would fight anyone. I think its an intriguing match with Moore a little pre prime, and Louis a bit more post prime.
No ,according to Moore the fight was mooted at one point but he nixed it saying," I respected him too much".
At that stage of his career idk...Moore def aged better then Joe. Tough fight to call could go either way.
tough call…...but i lean towards Louis. moore needed to be in close quarters to be at his best and honestly, i dont think that this would be a good strategy vs even an old Louis. i see moore getting an early knockdown but Louis puts together a short Dynamite Combo on the inside to ko ol archie. mid rounds.
