That's JUST the step aside money, than the WBA would have to greenlight it, seeing as they sent out the mando papers in Jan 2017, they'll be waiting for over 18 months to fulfil 1 mandatory if Wilder met Josh in March instead. I'm not sure about the governing bodies but they have guidelines to follow, and must fulfil those obligations. Than there is the point about maximising the profit from the event, March is a terrible time do do business in the UK, as football is still running and getting guys to like pay for their team on a Saturday, then shell out again for boxing only hurts the total revenue. Doing the event during the Summer Holidays, makes perfect sense from a business standpoint. That's the best time to make money in the UK, people are on holidays, they have more free time, no football.
For the first time? I guess you haven't been reading my posts. I agree that Whyte shouldn't be seen as a major threat but anything can happen especially in the heavyweight division. One well placed punch can upset the apple cart but that's the risk involved as a heavyweight boxer. No risk, no reward. I think AJ and Hearn already have the roadmap in building the Wilder unification fight. They are setting the stage to fight Wilder next year allowing the fight to gain some steam. Wilder is not opposed to fighting Whyte at all, he just wants a guarantee that Joshua is next. I don't think that is too much to ask.
Those guidelines has been broken plenty of times and will continue to be broken if there's a financial stipend attached to it. Summer makes sense to me and probably what Hearn is already setting his sights on. He's a good promoter and business man.
Hearn has given him the route,Whyte in Febuary then Joshua in the Summer. It is UK orientated in terms of Dates and Timing.Vice Versa if it was in the US.Wilder is not following the Map set out though he is diverting to Breazeale in the US which again makes no sense as it's not happening in the US.Put Whyte and Brezeale together, you can make a fair argument of Dominic winning on Points,so if Whyte is a easier fight, more money involved, gets you a chance to demand more money from AJ,why dosent he take it.
I’m very much looking forward to that POS Wilder doing the Bambi On Ice during his inevitable KO loss.
You dont how badly i want to see it.Their Yanks will Vanish, never forget what they said about Charles Martin.
It's called posturing. Wilder has some leverage and he's already said he's willing to fight Whyte, but with the caveat that the AJ fight is guaranteed as the next fight. That's not a big ask especially if Hearn is already looking to pit Wilder and Joshua together. Negotiations on this scale is a two way street so Hearn has to be willing to give a little in order to keep the bigger fight in scope. It makes sense to have the Wilder/Joshua fight in the U.K. It's a bigger market for the heavyweight division so Wilder will have to be prepared to fight in Joshua's backyard. He will get paid for well for making the concession
Wrong question? The question is what the hell does a 2015 interview with a retired heavyweight have to do with 2018 and what fights are next? 2015 is LONG GONE. Wlad is retired. Czar Glazkov tore his ACL and vanished. Tyson Fury won the title and went insane and lost his license and is 100 pounds overweight. Charles Martin came and went. Ruslan Chagaev is retired. Mike Perez is a cruiserweight. Stiverne is now a joke. Browne, Povetkin, Ortiz have all humiliated themselves. You can badmouth Wilder all you want ... but he's still the WBC champ. Still demolishing heavyweights. Still drawing some of the highest ratings for a U.S. boxer in this country. Wilder has been a slow climb, like a George Foreman. He didn't turn pro with a big TV deal. He fought in small towns and in small arenas off TV. Wilder didn't make millions until he got a title. And, frankly, I think he's HUNGRIER now and more dangerous now than he ever has been. So keep rehashing garbage from years ago. None of it has anything to do with what's coming up in 2018. Wilder isn't going anywhere. He didn't peak early. And he is far from satisfied with his career. Hungry for big wins and dangerous. Can't say that about 99.9 percent of the heavyweights.
LooooL! And I’m actually a ‘Yank’ looking forward to it. This is the one fight I’m actually routing for Joshua.
I distinctly remember getting into arguments with UK fans who were "afraid" of Joshua fighting Martin because they thought it was "too soon." And I remember telling them Martin was probably the worst fighter to ever hold a heavyweight title and Joshua would destroy him, and many just weren't convinced. They just kept saying it was too soon. The hand-wringing was hilarious. Now, those jokers have gotten arrogant, because Joshua did become the champ, but they're still afraid of him fighting anyone who MIGHT knock him off. They are so swept up in Joshua "not losing" that they'd rather prop him up by buying garbage PPV fights rather than seeing him fight someone who could stretch him with one shot. Hearn knows that. So he knows he can serve them whatever he wants and they'll lap it up. So don't expect much in the coming years.
It is a big ask as Wilder v Whyte has nothing to do with AJ. That is a separate fight and should be treated as such. Just because they share the same promoter it does not mean you roll two fights into one.
Look at this video from five years ago. That's why Joshua shouldn't fight Wilder next. Blah Blah. Anyone but Wilder. Blah Blah. There are no stadiums anyway. Blah Blah. It's not warm enough to hold a big fight. Blah Blah. Must maximize profits so we can't do it BLAH BLAH But we'll fight Parker not maximize profits ... blah blah. Joshua would sell out an arena against Stiverne next. BLAH BLAH. WE're not sheep. BLAH BLAH. Why won't the U.S. fans buy Wilder fights against bums BLAH BLAH We shell out PPV prices to watch Joshua bums AND PREFER IT THAT WAY blah blah. Who wants to see the best fight when you can watch Joshua fight a bum and it looks like a Spice Girls concert Blah Blah Look at all the lights and his web site projected on a screen blah blah I'd rather buy a ticket to light show than see the two best heavyweight punchers fight BLAH BLAH
