How do you see Tua doing against these 4? Do you think a prime David Tua has a chance against these current undefeated HWs? I say he KOs Wilder, Joshua, and Ortiz but loses to Fury.
Joshua could knock out Tua he has the power and reach plus he`s a more skilled boxer he would certainley stand a better chance than Wilder. DW wouldn`t be able to use mobility like Lewis did and Lewis maximised his reach by extending his lead left like J.Louis so that his hand was nearer Tua and his jab didn`t have travel far and Tua couldn`t see it coming in time, Lewis showed this to Wilder on a youtube vid but he doesn`t do that with the jab so Tua could evade it easier and counter. Fury would box the way he did against Wlad which is the same way Lewis beat Tua, Fury`s reach would just be too much.
How do you know Joshua could knock out Tua? Tua walked through some of the biggest punchers in the division at his peak without flinching - check out his fight with Ibeabuchi ffs. No one has any idea what it takes to even rock him, let alone drop him! I do think he's probably too small. I really think some of the sub 6ft 2 HW "greats" would struggle a lot more than people expect against the currents. Styles and builds have changed in a way that make some fights look a lot less exciting than in the past, but I am not convinced it is less effective.
I just see AJ landing so many punches with speed that he could get a TKO that`s why his KO ratio is better than Ike`s and most others.
Tua would most likely get outboxed by all of them.. His punch output sank when he fought guys who had a good jab and size on him, I don't see how it would be any different in these cases either.
AJ doesn't have a punch output anything like some of the guys Tua fought. I am not debating that AJ would win, but I'd be surprised if he KOd Tua tbh. If Joshua started hunting for Tua then he'd possibly get cracked so he'd end up fighting a very Lennox Lewis type fight - which was off the back foot. Even when Lewis tried to get too cocky against Tua he actually got wobbled himself then went back to the jab, cuddle and back away routine. Tua was hard as hell, both in punching and punch resistance - Joshua hasn't faced someone with the one punch power or aggression yet so I'd say he'd be a lot more negative than you usually see. I'd give Tua a VERY real chance of beating Wilder, Wilder always gets caught and has been matched against soft punchers - he wouldn't put Tua out with one punch, so Tua would be live in the fight long enough to give Wilder something Wilder wouldn't be able to eat. If Wilder could survive to the end of the fight I'd say it'd be a Wilder points decision. Ortiz I don't know enough about his chin, but is close enough to Tua's height that it could be a dangerous fight. This is one which would be an actual fight I think
I have issue with Joshua being described as more skilled than Tua. People don't realise the skill required for a 5'10" guy to land power punches on heavyweights 6" taller while not getting hurt. Pump Tua up to 6'6" and while he'd lose some power I'd sure you'd see more skill than AJ.
I find the "scale x fighter up/down to y fighter's size" thing a bit unrealistic, there are so many variables involved... the fighter they are comes with the size they have no doubt. Tua was a SERIOUSLY underestimated fighter in terms of skill at times, people often treating him as a one-punch pony. He had huge punch output, picked his shots really well, had quite an elusive style etc. Lennox Lewis beat him convincingly but Tua did nick rounds and even rocked him, which is as good or better than a lot of serious serious fighters.
Absolutely not a great way to make a comparison - I agree. I guess I'm just pointing out if you equate skill with controlling range no short heavyweight will ever be considered skillful.
man these undersized heavys have it tuff. cant count any heavy weight out but im sure he would chin check 1 or 2 of these guys n finish them off. these undersized heavys need to do there best to get in tip top shape and get down to cruiser.
On a good night he could beat any of them... Especially Wilder. Fury at his peak is probably the roughest matchup for him because he would completely shut down Tua's offense like Lennox did. - Favor Tua at his best to obliterate Wilder. - 60/40 or 70/30 in Joshua's favor - Fury at his best almost certainly beats him - worst style matchup possible. Give Tua maybe a 10% chance - Ortiz is 50/50
its hard to say man.. what would of happened it tua hit fury with the shot steve cunningham hit him with ... no wat im sayin? lol... on a good night like u said he can chin check all these guys at one hitter quitter any of them ... but its a heck of a task he has to take some to give sum pretty much. hes not james toney on defense so he cant slip n roll with everything.
Like I said... Fury at his PEAK. Fury ****s around like that Tua knocks him the **** out. Fury of Chisora II/Hammer/Klitschko fights vs. Tua looks like a replay of Lewis fight. Ortiz/Joshua/Wilder are a lot more offensive and stationary which gives Tua a better shot, a few also have glaring defensive holes that Tua could and probably would almost certainly exploit. Thinking this over....... What if Joshua gasses mid-late against Tua? Tua had some nice late fight rallies against Izon-Oquendo-Maskaev. and at his best he could fight hard for 12 rounds....... Still favoring Joshua but his stamina is a definitely an x-factor to think about. Wilder is the easiest call... He makes SO many technical errors.. Drops his hands, terrible footwork, uncoordinated. Hard to no see the famed left hook doing it's job here. He's looked flawed against Szpilka, Washington, Duhaupas, and Molina(hurt by a left hook) guys that Tua would have smoked. and the success Szpilka had(a smaller HW) doesn't bode well for Wilder. With Ortiz it's a case of who's artillery and chin is better. Ortiz's chin is unknown - but this could shape up to look like the Ibeabuchi war.
for sure . im not disagreeing necessarily but fury at his peak i mean what is that? vs old wlad who wasnt at his peak? its hard to say if fury even did ever peak.
