Historically the weakest division in the sport (with perhaps the exception of the very lowest divisions), the realm of the slovenly, overweight and underskilled, a division that claims to be marquee but rarely delivers quality action, and the one division that competes most directly with the other major sports... It is the division that is worst representative of the sport. Is it time to let it go?

Yeah i think a 220lb weight limit would be nice. Fighters would cut weight and come in weighing maybe up to 240 on fight night but the guys nowadays are just too big and uncoordinated. The HW fights of the last 15 years just look like **** to be honest.

Also the drug testing needs to stop, its decimating the HW ranks......none of the ATG HWs were steroid tested either.

You cannot bar fairly bar folks from fighting based upon being too heavy, besides that some would be naturally over 240 due to height, bone structure, & natural muscle.
Folks were not tested because it was both less of a problem, & it also took a while to do so to try to render competition fair, like most other sports.
Who cares if folks are disqualified if they are cheaters & liears taking unfair advantages.

Encourage fitness, in part by recruiting better trained athletes.

I know that the simps love this division but it is pretty much a proclamation of ignorance. Worst division in the sport. Deny that.

I will agree that we are in transitional period . . . a couple of decades long one, but you can't have a sport perhaps any entertainment with any profile if you don't attract the morons. I want to be able to watch and follow it in the media!

Hell no! I would have never gotten to see a 45 yr old 252 lb George Foreman regain the heavyweight title.

21 out of the 30 front page threads are about Heavyweights. Hard to say it's not boxings focal point, particularly when the other divisions are placed against it as singular entities.

Yeah, who wants to live in a world without 9 pages and growing of the debate if Joe Louis was as big as George Foreman and Ken Norton?

Solution: Rename all other weights to include "Heavyweight" somewhere in their titles.

Cruiserweight's failure to do this is why most don't care about the class despite modern Cruisers being the same size as most classic Heavyweights. They should've called it "Heavyweight Classsic" when they had the chance.

Would any welterweight with Sugar Deontay Wilder's skills win a champeenship?

It's not my fault if this board attracts a bunch of size queens.
