I like GGG and Kovalev but your reasoning is flawed. That's like saying GGG is crap because he took 3 rounds to beat Geale who was later blasted out in 2 rounds by Renold Quinlan a domestic level Australian fighter who was comprehensively beaten by CEJ and beaten by Jake Carr another domestic level Australian fighter.

not really almost all of press row had Kovalev down in the second fight. first fight press row was a bit split but favoured kovalev.

.....With three shots to the nads. How short our memories are....... Ward went low earlier in the fight and it seems like that was planned with the ref to allow "anything". That Ward needed to resort to those tactics shows Kovalev was not overrated.

First fight you are wrong as hell, overwhelming majority favored Kovalev. 74% of 60 outlets.

Second fight, USA Today is only media card I could find that had Ward up.

    Associated Press, Kovalev
    Lederman (HBO), Kovalev
    Brian Campbell (CBS), Kovalev
    Dylan Hernandez (LA Times), Kovalev
    Paulie, Kovalev
    Bloody Elbow, Kovalev
    Sherdog, Kovalev
    Bleacher Report, Kovalev
    SB Nation, Kovalev
    Telegraph had it even
    USAToday, Ward

Overrated because he got a) robbed on the scorecards and b) stopped after being punched in the nuts three times? Forgive me if I don't follow. The only thing he's guilty of is stupidity. Moral of the story don't fight loaded dice Ward in the states with four American officials. They don't even try to hide the corruption, just flat out refuse a request for neutral officials!!!

Doesn't change the fact that he was down again Caparello in his prime, where the fight was stopped TOO EARLY. Blake could have won.

Kovalev wasn't over rated. He just lost his focus and got arrogant along the way. The Kovalev up to the first Ward fight likely KO's Alvarez, or wins a wide decision.

    Yeah, he was overrated.

But his first loss against Ward made him distinctly worse.

He became afraid of losing decisions, so now he tends to risk too much going for a KO, then ends up gassing and getting knocked out.
