Won't be PPV in America though. The PPV will come from UK wherever it is held.

As a promoter what would you rather have

9pm start in the us @ 70$ per ppv with 3am uk start time @25$ per ppv

    Or

9pm start time in the U.K. @ 25$ per ppv with a 5pm us start time @ 70$ per ppv

I'm sure AJ wants to fight in America but, as the champion, he should make Wilder come to the UK.

Fighting in a stadium in front of 80,000+ people is the kind of event that brings eyes to boxing. It will do good PPV business in the UK too - there's no reason to take this one to America. A win here would give AJ the cache to have a defence in the US and do good business.

Canelo-GGG had so much money in it because Canelo is a big star in the US and has the Mexican market. GGG is another big fighter.

Even people living on Wilders street don't even know who he is, most think he plays NFL or NBA. Wilder makes chicken feed for all his fights.

AJ is unknown in the USA too.

It's not a big US fight. Neither man is big in the US, therefore it belongs in the UK where AJ is a household name and most boxing fans know who Wilder is because he turns up for the commentary.

    Missing the point.

It's not a big fight in the USA. It's not a PPV US fight. It's not selling units in the USA. If it was then Wilders promoter would have made an offer, he is twiddling his thumbs waiting for Hearn to make an offer.

No one in the USA knows who these 2 are or could care less.

I paid £26 for this PPV, as I paid on the day, over the phone.

I'm sure thousands more would've too.

This is the reality, fighters are not big enough too do it in the US, the UK this fight is mega huge.

The PPV money in this fight comes from British casuals.

How are you going to convince them to pay three times what they usually do for a fight which will be on at 3am?

The gate in the UK vs. money generated is miniscule compared to Las Vegas.

Canelo vs. Cotto drew less than 11,000 (compared to 90,000 for a Joshua fight) and generated gate revenue of more than $12M (as compared to $10M for Joshua-Klitschko).

So even having like EIGHTY THOUSAND MORE PEOPLE in attendance, AJ drew less money. Apparently they pay for a ticket what you'd pay for a hot dog and beer at a U.S. athletic or entertainment event.

It's the same with UK PPV monies: one U.S. sale = 4/5 UK sales.

Here's the deal: Everything in the UK is scaled down because literally 1 in 3 families (according to the Guardian) get more than half their income from welfare in the UK. So there's not a lot of expendable income. Thus they're practically giving away tickets.

Yes, AJ is a huge deal there. I'm not disputing that. But the potential for Mayweather type money just doesn't exist there ... he has to break into the U.S. market to become a big enough star to reach global big-money potential. (He also has to hand over a bigger chunk of those purses to the tax collector to hand out to all those people on the dole than he would in, say, Nevada.)

    That's just the facts.

Now I don't care where AJ-Wilder happens. I just want it to happen. But don't be surprised if a Vegas casino throws down enough money for a site fee to make it more lucrative than it would be at Wembley.

    Exactly

I kind of made this tread to just discuss options.... a lot of people assume it’s impossible for this fight to happen in Vegas and it’s a given it must happen in London. I don’t agree at all. I see it as a 50-50 shot and it could go from 50% to 100% if a major Casino steps up to the plate.

You seem to be forgetting an awful lot.

There were 10.6 million German fans watching the AJ vs Wlad fight.
There were also (Surprisingly positive imo) around 2-3 million of these watching AJ vs Takam fight.

The deals Hearn generates with these broadcasters would not be as lucrative in the US.

It's also great saying 1 UK PPV = 4/5 US PPV......

But neither are PPV attractions in the US.

If Wilder hadn't spent a career fighting bums, it probably would be held in the US.

If they want to try to make it a PPV in the U.S., it has to happen in America (probably Vegas) because of the time difference. It would have to go on well after midnight in the UK to be a PPV in the USA.

And that’s where the money is in the long run. If they make AJ into a PPV-level guy in the U.S., his earning potential expands exponentially.

That fight should happen in UK with 90,000 fans at ringside! No way would I allow Joshua to fight in Vegas with a corrupt referee, boxing commission, judges and esp. the crook Bob Bennett! Hell no! In UK there will be neutral judges, referee and boxing commission like Vlad had in their fight! Wilder is afraid to fight Joshua, so I don't expect him to fight, he will run like hell!
