I just watched his 2nd and 18th fight to familiarize myself with Arias. I wasn't too impressed with his 2nd fight coming from the amateurs. There was something there, but it wasn't amazing like some guys already are with long amateur careers. He was definitely throwing his punches too wide and needed to work on his footwork. But by his last fight five years later he's developed a lot. Maybe, it's the practice or maybe it's John David Jackson but I'd say he's a significant threat to Jacobs. Jacobs is bigger, stronger, and has better technique but Arias isn't that far off. He's around Chris Eubank Jr.'s level, I'd say; sort of relying on his athleticism to make up for a few gaps in technique which he's still improving. Of course, that athleticism has a ceiling too. We're not talking Roy Jones speed or GGG power. He reminds me a lot of his trainer John David Jackson himself actually, and Prince Charles Williams.
One thing I do like about Arias is how he goes to the body,in that fight against the Russian he put so much into his body and it payed off big time. That Jacobs did well against GGG esp after being dropped is testament to him being no 2 in the division,ok he was never gonna stand there and go toe to toe with Golovkin cause there’s only one winner there,I’m interested to see if he’s gonna fight different tonight as appose to the elusive Jacobs on his bike against GGG I could see him possibly getting over confident against Arias due to the size difference,I don’t know I can see Arias hurting Jacobs at some point if he Jacobs shows no respect,
