I don't mean to bust your balls. Everyone has a favourite. It was just a bizarre style of argument.

And for the case of comparable opposition :- 1. I disagree. I believe Louis fought greater fighters than Vitali (plus Louis fought FAR more ranked contenders than Vitali)
2. Vitali never came close to clearing out his opposition. Maybe he would have if Wladimir wasn't doing the job. But he still should have fought better ranked fighters. He didn't.

The number that Vitally beat could be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Yet you are somehow trying to make out that Vitally's resume somehow compares favorably?

I don't think that he ever beat a current #1 contender outside of Peter, yet you are criticizing Louis for missing people who were ranked 2 or 3 at some point?

The absolute cream of Vitally's opposition are Corrie Sanders and Sam Peter, who were frankly not the best and brightest contenders that his era had to offer!

You might as well be polishing a turd, and trying to make out that it looks better than a gold clock here!

If you want to say that Louis didnt clean out his era then fine.

But by that definition, you would be setting the bar so high that nobody did it, except perhaps somebody like Harry Greb.

What we are left with is who he beat in the real physical universe, and it is fairly unimpressive by ATG standards.

Frankly Louis's schedule would probably have defeated him, before we even ring the opening bell on most of the fights.

very true, anyone would be an idiot to pretend vitalis run is comparable to louis. That thougth should not even occur in a sane person.

 

I think that their number, and the frequency with which he fought them, are impressive by ATG standards.

Consistency and depth, are much harder to achieve than short term dominance.

That is why there are so few champions like Louis.

some people are confusing heavyweights of the past with heavyweights now.. Vitali is too big for the old heavyweights.

 

I'm not interested in debating it with you is what meant.

 

It's not that he was too big, he was too big and too skilled. Louis proved size alone couldn't stop him but Vitali is way better than the giants Louis fought.

 

He was dropped by him as well.......
