Do you consider the heavyweight division the most talent poor division?

Wouldn't matter how talent rich it was. Wilder would still fight Buffet III.

No. Generally the worst divisions are the ones that don't have a big enough talent pool. Even though heavyweight only has half the talent pool of welterweight it's still got twice the talent pool of minimumweight. This is enough talent to ensure that there is always at least one special guy in the heavyweight class. However, middleweight or welterweight sometimes have two great guys who are naturally in their division and they are surrounded with other talented divisions where a talented guy could move up or drop down into them by manipulating their weight stacking the talent three or four deep.

One gripe of mine is we end up with Stiverne "fighting" for a title instead of somebody in shape and in his prime. Wilder's fights seem more designed to make him look good instead of being competitive. Really, nobody was impressed with Stiverne from the weigh all the way to the end except for die hard Wilder fans.

It's easy to say that now. And it's true most people knew Wilder was going to put a serious beating on Stiverne. No one including Wilder wanted to see that fight. Everybody knew it was going to be a one sided mismatch.

That's the thing with Wilder though. Pretty much anybody he get in there with is going to be pretty much a one sided affair. I remember when Wilder said 3.5 half years ago he would beat Stiverne and Arreola at the same time. Most folks on this very forum disagreed. So what happened in the three fights he had against them it might as well been as the same time. That's had bad the beatings were.

Then it was Washington. People were like Wilder is ducking Washington, lol. What happened? The first right hand Wilder put on the man sent him into lala land.

And so now were are hearing the same thing with Whyte, Breazeale, Ruiz jr. When Wilder inevitably dominate them people would be calling them bums too. They are bums both they are several levels below Wilder.

You can say the same thing about Joshua. Anybody he fight is going to be several levels below him. That's why the AJ/Wilder fight is the only HW fight anybody really want to see.

Joshua fought and beat Vladimir Klitschko which pretty much says it all.

People criticized the Klitschko's for being boring....but they were the only guys keeping the division alive.

It is starting to re-emerge now though thanks largely to Anthony Joshua.

Wilder's inability to step up was a huge issue though. We basically had an extra 3-4 years of Wlad's one sided mandatories until he actually had one which challenged him and resulted in Fury taking the mantle.

If some of those CW got their arses up to HW then the HW division would have some exciting new blood.

Usyk and Gassiev certainly need to take the step up following the WBSS.

I think the time for those at 6ft 3-6ft is arriving again. AJ is certainly vulnerable to smaller men with high level skills. Imagine a Gassiev in with him instead of Takam

We've been waiting for the talented fighters like in the past such as Rocky Marciano, Mike Tyson, and Mohamed Ali to give a life back the HW division again.

The cruiserweight division is sucking up 90 percent of the elite talent.
