I used to root for Billy out of appreciation for his boxing (one of the most skilled kids the UK has had in the last few years), but I have very little time for him since I became more au fait with his character. His insistence on playing Broner to Fury's Mayweather over the last couple years has been cringe-inducing, and (like AB) his documented exploits fit the profile of a boorish yob at best and a deeply unpleasant bully at worst. It spoke volumes of him when his young son punched Willie Monroe Jr. in the nuts - no kid behaves like that toward an adult if he's been raised right. It wouldn't sadden me any if Lemieux sleeps Saunders.
That tweet he put up yesterday about him not giving a rats ass about not being able to read or write properly because he has money sends out the wrong message. Man is a toss pot. I tweeted him back on it but then realised he wouldn't have been able to compute the point I was making due to his illiteracy.
Hes basically a man boy. Has an adolescent brain. If it wasn't for sport he would be laying your drive and you wouldn't ever hear/converse with such a specimen . Strange guy. I'm suprised the Ingles took him on to be honest- I know they have a reputation for helping ex-cons etc, but they were usually fellas who were back on the straight and narrow and intended to stay there.
I actually think it's a really great matchup- a slick boxer against a puncher. Saunders should get it on skill alone, but he'll need to stay sharp and not gas, because with Lemieux one good shot might be all it takes.
BJS is an absolute tool. I don’t really like how he comes across in interviews and I don’t like the stories I hear. I know I wouldn’t be able to stand him as a person. However, I enjoy what he does inside the ring, he is absolute class. I believe he’s top 3 pound for pound in Britain and he’s genuine world class.
Yea he' a **** for sure but he won't be the first or last Doesnt bother me at all if fighters are dickheads. Theyre hardly role model material . They fight for money Same as footballers. It's annoying when try to force them into that mold. Footballers and boxers are usually chavs that play sport but have ability . Don't know why we herald them as heros. I will tune in and watch all Saunders fights. I look for my role models elsewhere . And yes hes a good fighter
A very disturbed 12 year old... inspired by another thread, I was going to send my niece and nephew down there to give it a go, as I remember the days when everyone showed respect to everyone in that gym (god I sound old!), from the world champs to the littlest kids. Think I'll give it a swerve now.
