"There are ominous signs that Canelo Alvarez is not ready to step up to the plate for a rematch with Gennady Golovkin.

Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo’s Golden Boy promoter, is dropping heavy hints that they may turn instead to either the winner of Billy Joe Saunders’ WBO world middleweight title defence against David Lemieux in Canada next month or Daniel Jacobs, who has already lost to Triple G.
    [...]

How much older do they want Golovkin to get? The Kazakh with the killer punch - at 35, eight years the elder - was kept waiting for more than two years before Alvarez agreed to September’s super-fight on the Vegas Strip.

That ended in a controversial draw, with most of the watching world convinced Golovkin had been robbed of a crystal clear victory. At least that enabled him to retain the unified WBC, WBA and IBF world championships.

Canelo convinced himself that it he was he who was the rightful winner, an opinon not shared by many outside his inner circle."

Well at least GGG made about $30 million. He should have worked that body but he was worried about the counters. At least he still has a BJS bout to look forward to become undisputed middleweight champion. Chasing Canelo around like they chased Floyd around is just weird anyway. He'll start looking like Amir Khan after a while if they don't get the second fight next May.

TBH I don't necessarily need to see a rematch, cause I do believe Golovkin won. I'd like to see one, but if the fight is gonna be a **** around to make then **** it. Just keep fighting, a majority of people already believe you won, don't be an idiot and waste more time chasing the fight golovkinnnnnbb

I fully agree. He needed to take a few risks and slip them to the ribs. If Canelo was prevented from getting his second wind he would have been done like dinner. Golovkin wanted to outbox Canelo without taking risks. There's an article on the ESB main page where Saunders says as much:

“Canelo is good at his job, but if he [Golovkin] goes in there in round 1 and doesn’t worry about losing a round here and there, because he has to take a few chances…to get Canelo on a Golden Boy show,” said Saunders to Fighthype. ”Canelo is the golden goose for Golden Boy.”
    [...]
“I had him by 3, maybe 4, if I was being kind,” said Saunders. “There was 2 rounds there where I was contemplating giving it 10-10. I maybe gave one of them 10-10 rounds to Golovkin. I’m not telling you it was a daylight robbery, but listen, let’s face it, 7 out of 10 people had Golovkin winning that. For some reason, Golovkin started a little bit slow in the first fight, but maybe that’s because he’s 35-years-old now. Age catches up with us all.” said Saunders."

Very true. Oscar and El Pollo lied to Golovkin, they want to fight Saunders/Lemieux to get the WBO title, that was the plan from the very beginning and everyone knows it. Golovkin should have fought Saunders for the WBO title, then he would have has all the titles and could have forced El Pollo to fight him. Oscar wants El Pollo to fight Golovkin when Golovkin is 40 years old!

I agree with most you said, but ggg time in the ring is limited. It would be nice to get another 8 digit payday.

If he gets past Lemieux we will find out because he will not fight Golovkin unless Oscar can guarantee a win by hook or by crook! Three Byrd's as judges!
This is the number from "The Fight Game" Jim Lampley 702-486-2575. I plan on calling tomorrow! As reported, Byrd who scored the Golovkin/Alvarez fight 10 rounds for El Pollo and only 2 rounds for Golovkin will not be penalized at all! Bob Bennett, the boxing commissioner lied live on HBO, claiming that Byrd was a great judge and had never had a bad card until the Golovkin/Alvarez fight! A total lie! Byrd has been corrupt for years. Jim Lampley said that if fans do not do something now, the corruption in boxing will continue! Bob Bennett was also called out by HBO for lying about the last Rigo fight when Rigo held his opponent's head and hit him three times in a row, then clearly after the bell landed a left hook and knocked his opponent out! Bob Bennett lied live on HBO, said their video man told him that the punch was clearly before the bell while the video was being replayed! Later the decision was changed, but only after HBO proved him wrong! The same Bob Bennett who refused to watch the replay of Kovalev/Ward when Ward clearly landed three low blows in a row to Kovelev's testicles!. Call the number and complain! I will do it tomorrow! If you have it on your DVR, then watch "The Fight Game" with Jim Lampley which was shown right after the fights!

I'm a massive fan of GGG. He probably wont make the Canelo fight with a clean slate if he keeps going..Hes got 2 fights left in him, and they are risky against whoever..Hes done imo. Great fighter though, really admire the fella !

Canelo is a coward who hides behind the fact that he sells a lot of tickets therefore he's the meal ticket.
He needs to gets some balls and start doing the right thing.
He's almost just like Mayweather was except at least Mayweather had a lot more skills.
