Had J Parker been based in the UK from the start of his career do you think he would be a world champ now?

In the UK HWs in general are moved fairly fast.
    Consider -

T Fury in 25 fights has fought - undefeated Chisora, Chisora again, Hammer, Cunningham, Johnson, W Klitschko, Rogan, McDermott twice. Fury in 25 fights has fought 4 undefeated opponents

Joshua in 20 fights has fought - undefeated Whyte, undefeated Breazeale, undefeated Martin, W Klitschko. Joshua in 20 fights has fought 5 undefeated opponents

Whyte in 23 fights has fought - undefeated Joshua, Chisora, Helenius. Whyte has fought 5 undefeated opponents

Chisora in only 19 fights had fought undefeated Fury, V Klitschko, Haye, Williams in 35 fights Chisora has fought many decent HWs. Chisora has fought 6 fights against undefeated opponents

Parker had a close fight with H Fury. Had Parker been based in the UK on the way up he may have faced fighters like T Fury, D Chisora, D Whyte, A Joshua, D Haye, D Price

Do you think Parker would have gone past British level and become WBO HW champ?

I don't think the Hughie Fury fight was close.

Parker has fought and beat tough fighters like Takam, Ruiz and Hughie. Two of them being undefeated prospects. I think he beats Chisora. Yes I could still see him being WBO champion.

In would say he would easily have been where he is. Joseph and his family struggled getting finances to allow JP develop during his amateur days. Many opportunities were missed and the result is that he got by on raw talent.

If he had the backing of the UK cash...with best facilities etc...he would be more advanced by the time he turned pro.

Hughie Fury would beat all of them so yes, Tyson is 26 stone, AJ is just a bodybuilder, the rest are just not very good and Haye is a broken down cruiserweight.

    Good thread bailey
He probably would have faced many of the above could throw a prizefighter comp in there also
And certainly imo would have been dealt a few losses

Joe got robbed against Junior Fa

Kiwi's always get robbed in the amateurs because we can't afford to buy wins like the Europeans.

David Nyika gets robbed at almost every major event it's despicable. He thrashed that Tischenko and got robbed against Tulganov too.

Easy answer. Joshua became IBF HW champ with a weaker resume than Parker had when he got the WBO title - why wouldn't Parker have?

If Parker was fighting in the UK with the typical financial backing etc that a British fighter gets then he would have had way better support and probably had a couple of British stoppages where he has just decision wins. Anthony Joshua is the only active British figher with a better win on his resume than Parker has, and people are already comparing him with the greatest British heavyweight.

I really hope Ruiz and Hughie start fighting some other names (and beating them) to put into perspective to people who don't understand fighting well enough to see what happened... so the only way they can judge a decent win is if the other person is well known and beaten people who are well known, even if not great themselves.

Pretty much. Parker isn't necessarily bad at anything, but he excels at nothing, which is more than enough to beat everyone named above except Tyson Fury and maybe Joshua.

Parker needs to get out of Australia, come to America and get a real trainer, he has potential. Parker has beaten far better opposition that the wino beater Wilder for sure!

The query to this is in the question asked...
Had Parker been based in the UK he would possibly at an earlier stage in his career have been involved in one or two fights with either Fury, Joshua, Whyte, Chisora, H Fury, Price, Haye.
There are fights there that I think Parker would win and fights there that I feel he would likely lose.
Had he had a fight or two that he lost and based in the UK, possibly wouldnt have got a shot at the title.

You feel Parker had a better resume when winning a title, but he didnt win a title in as few a fights either so would have had a few more fights to build a resume before contesting.
I dont really think it was much if any better to be honest. Dimitrenko, Takam, Ruiz Jnr, compared to undefeated Whyte, undefeated Martin. debatable I would say but in 22 fights to win the vacant title, Joshua in 20 fights has beaten an undefeated world champ and beaten a HOFer as well as a big punching undefeated HW.
How has he been compared? I looked at a small bit of resume above and Joshua in fewer fights has a greater resume?

Even if Parker had a few stoppages rather than points wins its more to the point of how the performance was. Joshua hasnt had a big stand out performance in his world title fights as of yet

Even if H Fury and Ruiz were to lose there next few fights that shouldnt detract from Parkers wins as Parker was the fighter who took their undefeated record when both were established to challenge for a world title against him

I think Parker would have struggled to go as far if based in the UK as I think the time he was on the way up, think T Fury and Joshua would have clearly beaten him if he had of faced them. I wouldnt have bet on him against the Chisora of a few years ago and think Haye pre injury would have beaten him. I wouldnt bet on Parker against Whyte either when looking at respective performances against Cojanu and Helenius
