I think if De La Hoya came out of retirement at this stage in his life to fight MacGregor now he'd lose. In his prime or at pretty much any point in De La Hoya's career I'd expect him to beat MacGregor easily.
ODLH in any shape stops Conor easily. Even at 44 I think he hits hard enough to stop unskilled 0-1 fighter, who always keeps his chin high. Floyd played with Conor, and Floyd never hit as hard as Oscar
I hope this doesn't happen again it is so sad for boxing.. This would be another reality TV show fight as the last one but even worse .. I think DLH would purposely lose to make Mcgregor an even more viable marketing boxer. So every "millennial" can say, Wow ...Connor beat DLH, I can't wait to pay to see him fight again. DLH is probably thinking he could land McGregor on Golden Boy and make millions more in the future ... I wouldn't be surprised if we turn on the TV soon and see someone like Allen Iverson or Kobe Bryant hitting the heavy bag getting ready for Mayweather as he comes out of retirement again .. Like it or not, people are paying for it .... Such is the slow death of boxing ...or a part of it
Interesting. Not sure if he could make 154..... But oscar is still gonna have a decent punch, its the one thing that you dont lose. I honestly have no idea how it would play our but im intrigued.
FFS De La Hoya is utterly and completely out of shape. As crap a boxer as he is, McGregor would wear DLH's ass out. I realize everyone has to make a buck, but seriously does DLH really thing he's going to make as much $$$ as Mayweather did for fighting the Irishman?
He's masking the hypocrisy behind saying it's a circus and if he stops McGregor sooner than Mayweather, that it would prove Floyd carried him or subconsciously planting a seed that Oscar was a better boxer
Remember when De La Hoya fought Shaq? This content is protected At least he didn't put it on pay per view.
I actually think Oscar is a hypocrite. He insulted Floyd for this fight and now says he wants to fight Conor. What a joke he is.. His GoldenBoy promotions must not be doing well.
I'm sorry to say, McGregor, probably quite easily. Oscar was far, far past his best when he retired - much more so than most fighters at the same age - and he's now pushing fifty. Or is he past fifty? Put Connor in with Golovkin and he gets ****ed up, badly, inside three rounds. edit: Okay I just checked and Oscar is "only" 44. But he ain't Foreman, Hopkins, or Fitzsimmons, he's an old 44.
