    Shadow--
I am one of those that admit it was a close fight. I have watched it in full twice. 8-4(GGG) live, 7-5(GGG) the next day. I could even see it maybe possible to score it 7-5 Canelo.

The problem is, there are MANY fans--myself one of them--that thought GGG could NOT get fair scoring in vegas and that GGG would need to get a T/KO in order to have a shot to win. This card at least gives credance to that thought. 10-2 is a ridicules score card for either guy.

This is not the only fight where Byrd has scored a fight completely different to other judges. Hopkins-Calzaghe,Smith-Molina theirs probably others and nothing gets done. Gustavo Padillo(who scored Hopkins-Shumenov to Shumenov)and Hubert Earle were suspended for their scoring of Murata-N'Dam fight.

Yet nothing ever happens to Byrd apparently she's a protected species. She has been stood down from major fights for a while but her incompetence will still affect lower level fighters.

You know what's stupid about this corruption argument? If Byrd was paid off as some suggest, wouldn't she have made the score closer and give a round or two to the fighter she was paid off to win? That wouldn't bring attention. The fact it was so wide suggests she's just inept not corrupt.

True she's just inept or incompetent IMO. I would be more worried about Trella who scored it a draw and gave Alvarez round 7(a clear Golovkin round). Even Byrd gave that round to Golovkin.

What number do you call to complain about bias and dishonesty at HBO? I think that more foul smelling than any scorecard Adalaide Bryd could render.

Sorry man, but if Vegas can make a 19 day late miraculous TUE legit, we never had any hope for integrity in this sport.

I'm not saying she was bought off. All I'm saying is that the pre-fight notion that GGG would not get a fair shake in Vegas is now at least a justified thought given the completely bias 10-2 card.

There is no way someone can score that fight 10-2 for Canelo without a bias and giving him every close round, every benefit of doubt. THAT is an unfair advantage and NOT a fair shake.

You are a very reasonable poster joeyp130 and I respect your honesty.

I can appreciate the problem that you are talking about, I know going into the fight there was a concern amongst the Triple G fans over whether or not Gennady could win a decision. I totally get that the 10-2 card does give credence to that theory that many Triple G fans had going into the fight. However, I think that the concern about Triple G not being able to win a decision really had to do with how good Canelo is as a fighter, and the doubts they had about whether or not Gennady could impose his usual style on Canelo. In my view, the judging was used to basically disguise that concern that TG fans had about whether he could beat Canelo.

To test the validity of this, can I ask you how you judged Canelo's fights vs Trout, Mayweather, Lara and the first 5 rounds of Khan before Khan got knocked out? We know that a lot of the concern expressed about the judging of Triple G Canelo stemmed from debates about those fights, and some questioning whether Canelo won those fights or in the case of the Mayweather fight "how close it was". A lot of people had used those fights from the past as a way to argue that Gennady couldn't win a decision.

The only real way to examine this is that we need to discuss the rounds that she scored to Canelo and decide if they are reasonable.

She gave Canelo Rounds 1,2,3,5,6,8,9,10,11&12. She only gave Gennady rounds 4 & 7. Now, most people agree that Canelo won rounds 1,2,3,10,11&12, or that those rounds Canelo winning is at least conceivable. So given that, we need to really evaluate rounds 5,6,8,&9 and how close you are willing to admit that those rounds were. Personally I gave Canelo round 4 and Gennady Round 5, the opposite of Byrd but I recognize that both those rounds are extremely close and could go either way. (in my view) Rounds 6 & 8 Canelo landed big uppercuts in. Round 9 Canelo landed several big punches as well, the best punches in the round. So I mean I agree with you that giving Canelo all those rounds is a little ridiculous, especially Round 6 in my estimation, but based on her judging history, she obviously pays more attention to quality effective punching than other judges who prefer come forward fighters who throw a lot of punches. (for example, she was the only judge who scored Hopkins over Calzaghe)

The only round that I personally have a problem with on her card is Round 6, which I thought Gennady won pretty clearly despite Canelo landing that huge uppercut. Round 8 and 9 were both pretty close in my opinion, and if she would have split 8 & 9 and gave Round 6 to Gennady she would have had a more reasonable score of 8-4. That said, Canelo was doing well and had his moments in all the rounds that she scored for Canelo.

    You don't get it.

Attention to Byrd was their intention all along.

While everybody's bashing her, nobody's talking about Golovkin's strange performance.

I had the fight the same as Harold Lederman, 8 rounds to 4 Golovkin and that was being generous!

I spoke with Bob Bennett today on the phone. He said that Byrd had never had a bad card for three and a half years, I told him she had had bad cards for "many" years! He pretty much told me the same thing he told the reporter at the conference after the fight. He was a lot nicer on the phone than he was on the air.................he said that fans do not know how to score a fight! Harold Lederman has been scoring fights for many years, he knows how to score a fight, he had it 8 rounds to 4 Golovkin..................I asked him if we should have x-fighters scoring fights, he said that they were not interested in doing that...........Bob Bennett said that Horn beat Pac and that Atlas was wrong, however, the huge majority of fans had Pac winning that fight................he was well aware of the fans being upset at Byrd's score, said that she just had a bad night...........................I asked if she was going to be retrained, but he said she was the best judge in boxing today, only had one bad decision in her life.................he was wrong on that! I also asked Bob Bennett if Mark Ratner was still around, he said that Ratner was doing UFC. I told him that boxing was losing fans after bad decisions like the Golovkin/Alvarez fight, that fans were angry after paying huge amounts of money to watch a fight PPV or live at ringside, that this was destroying boxing. He did say that if she had been bribed that she would have made her score much closer, probably so, but if she was not corrupt then she really needs to buy some glasses and be retrained.........................Bob Bennett does not usually answer the phone, but he did today.....................for some who do not know who Bob Bennett is, he is the Nevada state boxing commissioner...................What can I say? We need more complaints.................
