    They overpaid the champion.....

Therefore, following that precedent, Joshua should now be overpaid every fight.

Very short-sighted from Parker. IF he beats Joshua then he becomes The Man and has a licence to print money. A couple of million isn't exactly a hardship. He can't be confident of winning. What's his alternative?

If Parker, or Wilder, beats AJ, they earn £20 million + in the rematch.

I still don't understand why people don't get this.

Parker has Browne in aus and Povetkin in Russia as options I would like to see him exercise.

Other than that he take up Arums offer and start campaigning in the states. Arum could set up a Jennings fight tomorrow and start getting a profile over there. He could easily bring just as much money to the table as Joshua if he raised his profile in the states.

    That doesn't follow.

My point is that by publicly offering Martin so much for having done so little Hearn has made the other belt holders greedy for the same type of easy money. If Joshua and Hearn ever want to unify they'll need to do the same and more.

Don't get why Joshua's team overpaid Martin or why they no longer have to overpay anyone else?

The same could be said on a lowball offer and the subsequent announcement of Miller signing with Hearn and a fight in 2018...

Its pretty obvious what happens here...

Parkers team offer too high (40%)...

Hearn tells the world the offer is ridiculously too high through youtube or social media...

Hearn offers low... (likely somewhere between 10-20%)

Parkers teams takes to social media to cry foul.

They are both at fault trying to use social media to leverage their position in negotiations.

When they are serious about making the fight it will all go quiet and they we will get an announcement.

If fights like these were made after one emailed offer... the boxing game would be a vastly different game.

If Parkers team are really interested in forcing the fight why doesn't Parkers team take a flight to the UK sit down and hash it out... (for the those that will say why does parker's team have to fly why doesnt hearn... well because they want the money from the UK not the other way round).

    Lowball offer?

Who could Parker earn just £2 million fighting against?

He overpaid Martin for a number of reasons:

    1) He was the challenger
    2) He wanted him to come to England.
    3) They wanted a belt.

What's so hard to understand about that? Right now AJ has 2 belts, generates x10 (at least) the money of Parker for the fight and is considered the top 1/2 guy in the division, so why is his team going to overpay? You would start at the lowest figure and then find common ground in between.

Also, what does this say about Parker? If he wins, in the rematch he will get A side money.

No bar has been set. They paid Martin to get the title.

Parker and Wilder can want but they wont be getting.

I understand precisely why they offered Martin the money they did. But by doing that they allowed other fighters to demand or at least expect a similar amount in turn. Whether they're worth it or not is irrelevant. Martin wasn't worth it either, but Hearn wanted to nab an easy belt in order to raise Joshua's profile and drawing power and made an investment which paid off handsomely. He now has to weigh whether it's worth doing the same in an attempt to unify the other major belts. If he thinks it isn't then there's no reason to expect a fight with either of the other beltholders.
