Kovalev on what was going through his mind after losing the second Ward fight:

“You know, my mind was busy with a lot of trash of everything that happened with me, you know, like since [Isaac] Chilemba fight, because all my problems started with Chilemba fight...

“I just understand that all my problems came from myself. You know, what I did, what I didn’t, and like, just now, cleaning up everything from my mind, from my life, and right now here for a new chapter in my boxing career.”

    On changing trainers:

“...I’m very happy that I got a coach — real coach. I’m very happy that I got a real coach. Right now all my training under his control and I believe in this guy hundred percent, and we understand each other because we [speak the same language]. And even [though he’s from] Uzbekistan — I’m Russian, you know — but we’re from USSR together. We was born in USSR and we understand each other on the Russian language...

“He’s given me right job, right work, what I should to do, what I shouldn’t to do, you know, and my body understand this — understand these workouts and my mind understand and I agree what he gives me and I’m feeling good and I will show to boxing fans my boxing, November 25, the best how I can.”

I'm interested to see if this will be Kovalev 2.0.

Honestly I think he's a stubborn dude so I'm pessimistic but his boxing will always be quality, just he lacked the right mentality to stay at the Top.

Remember its not that hard to climb on top , but it is to mantain yourself there.

Here's hoping he can still win his belts back, because we know Kova wont F around with useless fights

I think he wasn't mentally strong enough to overcome the hurdles that US boxing threw at him for trying to extinguish America's leading light, be that the horribly biased judging in the first match or the pretty shameful refereeing in the second. He wasn't up to the task but then few are able to overcome such a loaded deck and it has crushed his already probably fragile spirit.

We saw it happen again in the Canelo Golovkin fight in which the scale of the favouritism shown towards North America's most prized fighters, especially when facing an eastern European opponent is. That so many people predicted the Canelo farce says everything really.

I think he still mentally ****ed. He should say that he made mistakes, got cheated but ultimately lost.
But he is still making excuses. At least he is taking training seriously.

Canelo vs Golovkin was a fair decision, upon review and analysis.

If you believe that then I have nothing more to say to you other than good luck. We are clearly watching two very different sports and I have no desire to try and convince you otherwise. To do so would be a waste of my and your time.

114-113 was not "Horribly biased". I think some ****er here had it like 9-3 Ward or something.
(I thought Ward clearly won 5 rounds, leaving quite a few stupid close rounds up for debate.)

Kovalev is being shockingly classy. John David Snake sold his ass out to Team Ward. Kovalev should expose this *******.

I've tried to find a way to score it for Ward and if I was judging it as Ward's father I couldn't have come up with a result in which Ward did enough to win without openly lying to myself about what I just saw.

:lol:Not to say that im some boxing expert but i think you need to review how you score fights.
There were some seriously close rounds that could have been scored for either fighter.

Watching, boxing. I leave biases outside when I analyze what transpired in a fight. You may want to do the same.

Didn't think I'd see the day....maybe it's not the end for Kovalev just yet. Not passing the buck and taking personal responsibility is a crucial step.

Good to hear man he’s certainly capable of regaining his previous form. His loses to Ward are a direct result of him not being as well balanced from a mental/physical perspective. Fighting on Wards terms and using rage as a motivator versus a cerebral operator like Ward isn’t the best strategy.

    Best of luck Krusher....

Interesting, do you live in America? Ward is far from a leading light (not exactly sure what that means)

The first fight was far from horribly biased however a case can be made supporting a Kovalev win. I personally had it 114/113 Ward though my initial prefight thoughts supported SK. I’m disappointed at the lack objectivity that shows up when fairly judging these fights and the fact that folks focused on inconclusive evidence of low blows as the determining factor of that second bout is what we should consider shameful, marginalizing Wards systematic breakdown of Kovalevs will is also shameful since it was the catalyst of his downfall.

Canelo vs GGG was much more egregious....I personally had GGG winning a close fight by two rounds.
