I still think Beterbiev (once he gets in his stride again too) beats him!

    Really?!?

It’s possible, very possible when you factor in Kovalevs opinion regarding Wards punching power which he said was equivalent to a young school girl slap.

If Beterbiev hits anywhere close to an angry entitled teenage girl then Kovalev’s doomed.

Yes. LHW GGG. Shift's the rust he'll be back in beast mode..

Great fight. Close but I think he'll get the job done.

Hopefully he doesn't neglect to use his left hook from here on in. During the Bivol vs Broadhurst broadcast the other day Roy Jones said that Kovalev doesn't use it a lot. However, he did actually used to use it a lot pre B-Hop and it made him not only more formidable but also it more difficult for his opponents to read and anticipate his attacks. He didn't just throw the left hook more back then he used to double, triple and even quadruple up on it. I've been saying for years that I much prefer and consider the pre B-Hop version of him, specifically the version who fought Campillo, Cleverly, Thompson, White etc, better than the more predictable jab, right hand version of recent years.

SK’s more polished that’s for sure, if he can stay in range he has the ability to batter AB 2.0 from pillar to post.

Intresting observation, I remember my old coach harping on the effectiveness of doubling up on the left hook especially at short range because you can still execute with significant leverage. He also said good body punchers can shoot out short straights jabs to left hook happy punchers and really take the wind from them when the jab hits the midsection in between the left hook.....pros and cons lol

Yeah. The more weapons you have at your disposal and the less predictable you are the better IMO.

So Ward bewildered and baffled Krusher, took away his comfort zone and drastically reduced his effectiveness.

Right. I believe that's what you try to do to your opponent, correct?

And people here still whine about Ward beating Krusher TWICE. Not only beat him, but mentally F'd him up so bad that Krusher is totally rethinking his entire life.

Well, you could argue that the many accusations come from the fact that he's fighting in the most sensitive country on planet earth, where everything you say can and will be held against you (pretty soon probably even in a court of law). Pascal acted like a piece of garbage too, he brought up Kovalev killing Simakov and was starting **** throughout the build up, most of that Pascal provoked, even with the Blackboa stuff, he clearly brought race into it.

As far as Clev and his dad go, he wasn't nearly as big a star when he fought Clev, they weren't shoving the mic under his nose non stop in the build up like they did with him before all of his recent matches, so he didn't have as many chances to enrage people, also he didn't speak English as well, and still doesn't speak it fluently, so maybe he didn't feel as comfortable at the time. That being said, he more than made up for it when he gave Clev his patented pelvic thrust and gave the Arm to the Brit fans.
