The one who was basically a poor man's version of the champion whose feet he learned at, Julio Cesar Chavez. One can't help but watch Floyd's first fight with Castillo and think about how much trouble he might've gotten if he'd been in with the maestro in his pomp instead of the understudy.

That said, it's worth bearing in mind that Floyd was carrying an injury that night - he won the return bout very clearly, despite the scorecards being inexplicably closer than the dubious margins awarded to him after the much more competitive first fight. One abiding memory I have of Mayweather-Castillo I is the consummate professional grit and application Mayweather showed in the 11th to follow his uncle's orders and stand in the pocket to meet fire with fire - Roger knew the fight was close and had just urged him to exchange and sit down on shots to stamp some authority on a crucial championship round. Mayweather's ruggedness and his tradesmanlike willingness to pick up his tools are sadly overlooked qualities of his PBF years (the elder statesman version, Money May, was a little more inclined to complain and play the officials).
