There were also favorable accounts of Willard as well.

Fact is, he was signed to fight Fulton. The famine hit, a political cartoon was made about the greedy nature of the fight, and the public support evaporated. And then WWI happened.

Ruddock that nobody that fought an angry Mike Tyson twice...19 rounds total landing cement like shots flush on Tyson's jaw?

    That Ruddock?

Yep he's got no chance against Dempsey!:hang

    James Smith - ranked 2
    Pinklon Thomas - ranked 3
    Tony Tucker - ranked 3
    Tyrell Biggs - ranked 9
Larry Holmes (38 yrs old) - unranked
Tony Tubbs (30 yrs old) - unranked
Michael Spinks (31 yrs old) - unranked
    Frank Bruno - unranked
    Carl Williams - ranked 6
    James Douglas (lost)- ranked 4

From '87-'89 Evander Holyfield was Tyson's number 1 contender yet he didn't fight him. Why is this? Tim Witherspoon also deserved a shot too.

    Miske
    Brennan
    Carpentier
    Gibbons (32 yrs old)
    Firpo
    Tunney (lost)

Miske was sick and Gibbons/Carpentier weren't true heavyweights but in terms of skill Tyson's opponents don't even compare and they were around the same weight as Dempsey (or bigger) when they fought.

    Again, how?

I can't really be arsed properly debating you mate. You're being very biased and selective.

But then again, who isn't? I have my bias, and I think Dempsey is generally rated fairly (12th or so on a heavyweight list), but him, more than many others, seems to have a substantial amount of fans who rate him far higher than he ever proved himself to be.

Inactive champion, fighting shopworn lightheavyweights, lightheavyweights in their last fight, never weres and has beens.

    It's bizarre to me.

How am I being very biased and selective? I posted the FACTS regarding the opponents Tyson and Dempsey faced. It is a FACT that Miske was sick and it is a FACT that Gibbons and Carpentier weren't true heavyweights. It is also a fact that an abnormal amount of Tyson's defenses were against unranked opponents.

True Dempsey was an inactive champion but that wasn't totally his fault. Who were the shopworn light heavyweights, light heavyweights in their last fight, never weres and has beens? I think you're being very unrealistic.

Again, how does Tyson look better than Dempsey in every way?

Ranked how? Ring magazine? Spinks was #1 and Tyson was #2 at heavyweight until late 1988.

    Get a clue.

Spinks wasn't ranked at all in 1988 according to ring magazine. He shouldn't have been ranked at all anyway in 1987. Outside of Larry Holmes in 1985 Spinks didn't fight ANYBODY relevant in the heavyweight division.

Do you have a real argument to present or are you just another *sshole?

Actually, they agreed to give a large portion of the proceeds to the Red Cross in 1916. Afterward, Jess twice threatened to retire. But the potential Fulton match-up still made headlines until July 1918 when Dempsey burst that balloon.

WW1 was already well underway when Willard fought Moran. The US entered later but discussions had already been underway for 18 months. What famine are you referencing?

Willard fought Moran in March of 1916. At this time in American History the United States public did NOT want anything to do with the war in Europe. In fact, this was what Woodrow Wilson relied on during his campaign for reelection in the fall of 1916. We entered the war in April of 1917 due in large part because of Germany's advances against us (Zimmerman Telegram and submarine attacks).

Actually it was mid 1988 and Holyfield took out Tillis, Thomas and Dokes by March 1989. Tyson didn't fight him at all between then and when he lost to Douglas even though he had an entire year to do it. Holyfield definitely would have been a better scalp than Carl Williams.

Holyfield didn't want Tyson until the Duvas felt he was ready, sometime after the brawl with Dokes in 1989. Were you even born yet? Because many of us lived through it...

Spinks didn't hold any titles after FEBRUARY of 1987. Tyson fought him an entire year and 4 months after that when Spinks was pretty much irrelevant and hadn't fought in a year.

The ring mag title isn't even a real title. They have phoney champs and are way out of date. If you haven't noticed they still recognize Fury as the ring mag champ even though he hasn't fought for 2 years.

I'm on that real sh*t what the "fcuk" are you on?
