Well if feather fisted Douglas could flatten Tyson then what would one of the hardest punchers of all time do to him? I picture the Greg Page knockdown only much worse.

Pound for pound, Hearns was likely a harder puncher than Douglas, but in absolute terms, I'd wager Douglas hit harder. Put it this way, if Douglas were fighting opponents ranging from welter to cruiser, I'm certain that Douglas would have looked like a devastating KO artist and then some.

Hearns rocked Ali, Foreman couldn't even do that. Douglas didn't hit harder, far from it.....

When did Hearns ever fight Ali? And even still, I doubt that Hearns hit as hard as Douglas, a 230ish pound SHW who actually was a decent heavyweight puncher.

I dont think he meant that literally. I think its a tongue in cheek criticism of people who think being 2-3 inches taller means you should automatically win.

He fought him with big gloves and headgear in sparring, without those Ali would have likely been asleep, the same goes for Tyson.

Hearns had zero chance of KO'ing Ali or Tyson.

No chance apart from visibly rocking him in sparring......

    Yep.

One thing that people get so wrong in these fights between lighter guys and HW's is this...

They think that HW's have more power, and that means they win, full stop. Not exactly true. Speed kills, and Tommy was LIGHTENING on his best day, and he could really bang.

Same happened in MMA. Mark Hunt (probably the greatest chin in combat sports HISTORY) let HUGE HW bangers TEE OFF on him. Then he faced a lighter guy, (a CW by boxing standards) and the speed he hit him with (which was faster than any HW that Hunt faced) was the sealer. Density of the fist also goes a long way.

Naz, Tommy, Moseley etc all carried their power up with them. They all had speed and fist density.

Rocked him? Really? He connected a few times, and Ali covered up like he always did during sparring sessions late in his career (this was before the Berbick debacle in 1981, hardly at his best); and you know Ali wasn't putting full steam on his punches against Tommy, who he likely outweighed by 50 lbs. When he finishes by clowning and wrapping his own arm behind his back, you can guess he's not seriously hurt.

nice punch but in a fight against a guy this big Tommy would have been winded just having Ali lean on him. It was a good punch and landed clean.

One thing that nobody seems to have picked up on, is Hearns's stipulation that Tyson had to come in under 200lbs.
While this is probably not going to be enough for Hearns to win, it could make for a more interesting fight than people are predicting.

Tyson would probably be pretty drained at 200.
