He's certainly still young enough to dominate the sport, so I really don't understand why he would retire. Taking time off is what he should of did instead of calling it quits for good. But yeah I hope he does come back.

He went life and death with an Older Kovalev, and still got a gift decision in the first fight and was allowed to hit the pubic zone multiple times in their rematch, I doubt he will come back, he knows his limitations.
