Bunce was saying that Frampton’s sparring had been cut quite drastically in this training camp and replaced with cardio work. Wonder if there’s owt in that...

Agree that's he's too small for super feather, but last night definitely wasn't the walkover it was supposed to be (bookies had Garcia 23-1). Hope he finds form again soon.

I would think there is something in that. I dont remember how much rds of sparin carl did under shane but i remember it been around double of what most trainers usually do. Shane might of found a formula that worked for carl and that formula was double the amount of sparin. Each person is different in there requirements, which usually comes down to genetics.
These guys are highly tuned machines up at that level, your taking a risk if u drasticaly change things without a real good history of what ur working on, which mooresy just hasnt got yet. He cant have, they havnt been workin together long enough yet.
It seems mooresys thought this is how i train guys in my regimen and this is how ill train carl. Maybe thisll turn out well and good but changing things drasticaly with elite guys usually spells danger Both physicaly ans mentaly. He should of replicated the training carl was used to as much as poss and changed bits at a time imo.
In the post presser mooresy looked under pressure, he knew it wasnt the performance they were looking for.
I hope they can all take stock and learn from there mistakes, i do like jamie moore as a person a fighter and a pundit. Im not sure on his training eligibility yet. Im sure hell turn out to be a good trainer in time as hes quite a bright chap but i think he needs more experience yet as training these elite guys takes time

I can't understand the mentality of the people who are knocking framptons performance on the Brit forum. I thought he was excellent last Sat night. I took a lot of positives from it. As usual two of his shortcomings...his lack of a really good sustained body attack, particularly a mcguiganesque left hook to the body, and a certain lack of engine/stamina were evident. Apart from that I thought he was excellent....and by the way it was a great fight too!

Carl fought after a long layof, with a new trainer against a HUGE teak tough Mexican warrior. Carl was nothing short of brilliant in 4 of the 10 rounds. That 40% of the fight where he totally dominated a dangerous opponent. The other 6 rounds were competitive...whoop-de-do....how anybody could have been surprised or disappointed by that is beyond me.

In the first 3 and the last Carl was as good as he ever was.

That being said I have consistently said Carl is not Big enough for featherweight, and the fact that his knockouts have dried up since hemoved up bears this out. He hit Garcia with some massive right hand bombs..that would have flattened anyone at 122.and the guy wasn't going anywhere. It a disaster that he can't /won't make 122 anymore, where he was a destroyer. He just isn't the same force at 126, because, folks, size matters. Carl is too small for success at 126.

Quigg Warrington and selby and LSC are just naturally bigger men.

Looked good early but certainly seemed to tire. Weight issues or perhaps just owing to some decent body work from Garcia. I mean when he did trade with the Mexican he usually got the better of it but he held his feet way too much for my liking. The rounds were competitive but I have him winning reasonably comfortably by the end. Garcia exerted excellent pressure and work ethic but wasn't getting through cleanly often enough for me. Good fight though, in fact most of the card was pretty decent

Frampton was by no means excellent. He himself said as much as did Jamie Moore.

Frampton was in control for at least half the fight, but that was it. he wasnt comfortable apart from the 1st round. His stamina has deteriorated, no question. Its good that he had that sorta fight tho as it should motivate him to work harder in his next camp.

Started very well but then got tired. If it was a 12 rounder i think he may of lost.

Really? How come he won the 8th and 10th then? He clearly hurt his man in the last round, which was fought at a torrid pace. If anyone was hanging on in that last round it was the Mexican.

Carl boxed well only in spells. I also believe that a 12-rounder would have been worse for Carl than Garcia. Carl was clearly tired and we saw the same pattern in the Quigg fight where Carl faded late on. Carl fought at that torrid pace in the final round because it was the final round. An extra two rounds would have been a totally different dynamic in the 10th. Garcia had way more left in the tank.

People can claim he was ring rusty I don't buy that. He had another full camp during that period prior to the one for this fight, plus it's 10 months out not 2 years or something. Add to that the fact Carl's timing, judging of distance, accuracy was excellent early on v Garcia, which it wouldn't have been if he was suffering ring rust. His performance went downhill for two reasons, one he changed tactics and the other was lack of fitness.

Thats a massive change to make, u cant supplement that much of a change with more fitness.
Sparin is the closest you can get to real fights, strength and conditioning and fitness then supplements the spars.
Carl didnt look the same physicaly as he did under shane, so they obviously havnt focused too much on the strength and cond work, it seems theyve just done more fitness/cardio conditioning work.
Other posters may think diferently but im one off framptons biggest fans ans whilst i do agree that there were spurts of the carl frampton we all know, hes certainly sliding atm.
Hopefully they learn by their mistakes and come back strong.

I think Carl is too small and has the wrong style to consistently beat top featherweights. To beat these guys Carl would have to be compensating for his lack of size by wearing them down, eg using an attritional body attack, and a much higher work rate...like Barry mcGuigan did or Scott Quigg when he was at 122.

Carl's style of classy pot shotting with big once off head shots looks great and scores points in the early rounds but it isn't koing top featherweights and it isn't wearing them down so that they are tired in the later rounds. It fails on both counts.

Waaaaaaay too much emphasis being put on Carl's stamina the other night. He always looks tired after six. He looked no more tired the other night than he did under Shane. But he always has enough left in the tank to win the important rounds late, and that's why he won 8 and 10. If he needed one of 11 or 12, he'd have won them too. He actually looked fantastic at times in the 10th, so why are we panicking?

The opponent was probably the worst type of opponent for Carl, a huge, relentless pressure fighter who'd never been stopped. People are acting like Carl was beaten, or gifted a win. He won the fight clearly by a couple of rounds. It was a positive comeback v a guy nobody else would have fought in a comeback fight.

Carl can't fight to his standard for 12 rounds. He's a different fighter in the second half of a fight, his feet get heavy. In the first six rounds he's an elite fighter, in the second half of a fight he's a world class fighter who gives away a few rounds. He's been that way for years, including when he beat LSC and Quigg.

He's not quite the beast he was at 122, but he's top five in the 126 division and can win a strap. What more can we expect than that?
