Rigondeaux's performance against Teon Kennedy

Teon Kennedy is not the equivalent of Sosa. Sosa was a titlist and legit top 10 guy. Kennedy was a fringe contender at best when Rigondeaux fought him.

 

If Lomachenko wins, he did what he should have done to a smaller man moving up two weight classes. Arum and ESPN don't seem to keen to promote this fight. There haven't been any pressers or face offs at all. You guys think Arum doesn't have confidence that Loma will win? Or do you think he doesn't want the people to see the size disparity and blow the fight off as a circus act? It's kind of unheard of for two guys as talented and decorated as Rigondeaux and Lomachenko to fight each other, and have literally no promotion for the fight. I did hear that Lomachenko's viewership numbers were absolutely terrible though.

 

Rigo could be a tricky night for Loma as long as his suspect chin holds up, everyone knows that really. The weight is nothing, it's the equivalent of one weight class really in most weigh class differences, people are just looking for an excuse with that one cause they know Lomanchenko is an unreal talent who always finds a way to win.

But Loma is gonna be around for a long long time. will be P4P number 1 for many years you really need to start accepting that

 

Yeah. Damn shame when a pound for pound guy isn't promoted properly. Just think how much better Rigondeaux would be known, if Arum was matching him with the Arces, Montiels, Sydorenko's, and Nishioka's, instead of giving all of the showcase fights to an already established star in Donaire. Rigs shot himself in the foot a couple of times as well, not being in top shape for fights. He was in the middle of a contract dispute and took the Marroquin fight on a somewhat short notice. He took the Francisco fight on 10 days notice and clearly wasn't in shape, on a PPV. He wa sucking wind by the second round, and it was really about as off as I've ever seen him. His offensive timing was ****, and he got tagged multiple times by Francisco. That was fairly damaging to have that type of showing, and back up all of the bull**** that Arum and other haters were saying. He should have just told Roc Nation he wasn't in fighting shape. Fracisco is a guy that he KO's if he had a bit more of a training camp.

Ike Ibeabuchi is probably the biggest waste of a career. Rigondeaux has still gotten something out of his career, and isn't done yet.

I think the worst thing for him was the Agbeko fight. Bob was looking for any reason to blackball him after Donaire, and that fight is the smoking gun he used to justify it.

It didnt help that King Kong fought the most negative fight I've ever seen him fight. Still, i think Rigo left too much on the table. It was pretty miserable to watch.

I wish someone would've been able to convince Rigo to open up more since winning alone wasn't enough, though in Rigo's defense, that's a complete 180 to the philosophy ingrained in the communist Cuban school (where winning is all that counts).

 

That doesn't make sense. At the lighter weights 10 pounds is a big difference. 10 pounds is what Loma will probably have on him in the ring, at least. Rigondeaux doesn't care about the weight difference, fans will point it out though. 10 pounds lighter and four inches shorter.

 

In hindsight the Agbeko fight was pretty horrible match making, for what was supposed to be a showcase against a solid opponent. It was more like a set up to get rid of Rigondeaux. Agbeko is three inches taller, but not a face first brawler. He's more a boxer type, with an awkward kind of, herky jerky rhythmic style. He also has an iron chin, and good defense, add to that, he pulled a Clottey. Roger Mayweather stopped giving him instructions half way through the fight because Agbeko was refusing to fight back. Almost like he was paid to stink it up, so Rigondeaux would be blamed. Rigondeaux did about what he could do with Agbeko under the circumstances. Rigs could have opened up, he wouldn't have been able to do anymore than Pacquiao did against Clottey.

I have seen Rigo get knocked down.....................he is used to fighting untrained fighters, slow fighters without defense, Lomachenko will be the best Rigo has ever fought, by far..................Lomachenko easily beat Gary Russell who has lots of skills, better than any fighter Rigo has ever fought...................Lomachenko has speed, power, movement, footwork, angles, head movement, great counter-puncher, etc. Lomachenko did not really want this fight because if he beats Rigo many will say that Lomachenko was too big for Rigo, etc., Lomachenko can't win either way, but he will knock Rigo out for sure! Rigo has skills, speed, but he can be hit, he is not as strong, is not as active...................
