Desperate isn’t the word. Nobody cares about some amateur press conference in NZ. I though Parker had other options? Seems to me they are desperate for the AJ fight as they need that payday.
Exactly. Some 2 bit conference in New Zealand watched by 10 people isn’t going to change anything. If anything it should show Parker and co that nobody cares about Joseph Parker and the only person who brings money to this fight is AJ. Take your 30% and be grateful for the retirement fund.
I think they want the fight, the fans want the fight, Joseph wants the fight, Boxing needs the fight... Hearn is holding things up 65/35 is a fair split.
I dont dispute that but let’s be real this conference was viewed by about as many people who watched Parker v Fury. Parker is small time and has about as much relevance to those who go and watch AJ as Takem does. Staging a press conference with a cheap stunt to try and get attention reeks of desperation. Duco needs to understand AJ doesn’t need Joseph Parker. AJ can make these guys wait as long as he wants as they have the begging bowl well and truly out.
You cared about it enough to comment about it, as have many others. Duco were out to get people's attention and plainly they succeeded.
In a boxing forum maybe but in a general sense it has achieved nothing. Any medial coverage will be what clowns they are, how have they improved their standing with this?. Really all JP has to do is go out and get some good wins by looking good... He should be on AJ's next under card, maybe fighting Browne or Whyte or someone else perceived as a threat.. Unfortunately the Fury fight did nothing because Hughie decided to run all night, not that many would have seen it...
I'll simplify it down to this: Are Hearn and Joshua serious about wanting to unify all the titles in 2018 like they say they are, or not? Nothing they have done so far supports them wanting to fight Parker or Wilder.
They're probably waiting for Parker to come down further. Higgins has already come down to 35% after saying he will not budge from 40%.
Nothing Hearn has done so far supports him wanting Joshua to fight Parker or Wilder though does it? Feel free to point out anything he has done that does...
I suspected they'd come down to 35, it is floating in the realms of what is fair - maybe 30-35, but I doubt they'll move much more to this. It starts becoming not worth it at this stage.
If you watched the "press conference" you would have noticed that Hearn has made offers for the fight, and he thinks they are getting closer to agreeing terms. At the moment, Parker's team are demanding an amount that would require Joshua to take a paycut in order for the fight to happen.
Amateur press conference it is indeed. 35% is quite fair. I think. Hearn should go for Parker. The other option: Wider - the stone face truckdriver who doesn't even look below a 50/50 millions of dollar split...
