Who wins? Holmes took Mercer to school in 1992.

Joshua by early KO. Holmes can not handle that relentless power.

    Larry Holmes!!!
Joshua doesn't have the stamina. Thats why he is ducking the leaner, more powerful, prime Deontay Wilder.

Holmes probably could hang for few rounds then it would be lights out around the 4th or 5th round.. AJ has to much power and Holmes was already on the decline in '88.

I think Ali would do better with his superior movement, but Holmes probably loses a close decision. Holmes was a good boxer with an iron chin, but he left himself open too often and stood in front of guys too much. That would give the taller counter puncher in AJ chances to land and land often and I don't think that bodes well for Holmes.

Holmes uses superior movement and jab to box his way to a wide UD.

Toss up. In 92 Holmes is far past his prime but still pretty solid as a heavyweight. I'm leaning towards Joshua but the experience of Larry could see him taking Joshua into deep waters and taking advantage of his lack of stamina and experience. If Joshua catches Holmes then it's over inside the distance

This. Holmes has an 81 inch reach, which is only an inch shorter than Joshua's. Also, Holmes even at 42 with his jab and timing would've embarrassed Joshua and most likely stopped him late due to Joshua's awful stamina and inexperience. Mercer was twice the fighter Takam ever will be and he had power and a great chin, but was taken to school by Holmes.

Larry only screwed by having a prime Tyson as his comeback fight coming off a two year layoff, which was beyond crazy. Tyson was young, but he was the unified champ and very experienced with over 30 fights unlike Joshua, who is very green with only 20 fights under his belt. When Larry made a proper comeback and got used to fighting again he was able compete with the top guys such as Mercer, Holyfield, and McCall, who knocked out a prime Lewis.

Joshua would never be able to cope with Holmes' jab

holmes would make AJ look bad.

Apart from a few moments, one of in which AJ floors larry. And that turns the tide. Although he won stop Lazz it will take too long for him to recover, by which time he will lose the points lead he had built on earlier.

Prime Holmes would've beat the **** out of Joshua. Old, old Holmes would've schooled him.

Joshua by razor close decision. He's not coming close to putting even that version of Larry away. Holyfield couldn't and he threw everything he had into him.

Foreman of the early 90's is a different story though. He'd deplete Joshua's health bar with that stun gun jab and clear him in 5-6 levels tops.
