Keith Thurman Says Errol Spence Showdown Is On Hold Until 2019; Says It's "Not Discussable".

i dont get why people give thurman so much credit for beating porter or garcia, neither one has ever been a top 3 welter, so thurman is made a beast for beating 4th ranked welters or lower?

 

I think Porter is actually the #3 rated welter as we speak (he might not have been at the time of facing Thurman, I don't recall), but I agree that it's merely a solid win and nothing more. Brook beat Shawn first and (IMO) did it more efficiently. Spence took out Brook and was much more calculated and businesslike against Bundu than Keith. Triangles aren't everything, of course, but I just haven't been that impressed by Thurman's fighting, and it seems to me that his go-to attributes and strategies are all negated by Spence's fighting makeup. Thurman's quite the athletic powerhouse, but, if you peel that dynamism away, there's a pretty flawed fighter underneath. I think Spence already overcame a bigger test than Thurman will give him, frankly.

 

Sounds like he was endorsing that model and citing Floyd as a precedent. That pisses me off. Floyd is still hurting boxing even after he's gone.

 

Keith doesn't want it with Spence. That's obvious. He has an argument to make Spence wait, but I get the feeling he knows Spence is someone who will give him his first loss.

 

Spence will be safely away at 154 by 2019.
