just look at this video and enjoy the skills of Rocky Marciano. Do you think he was the best heavyweight?

I enjoyed the video, thank you very much.

Do I think he was the best heavyweight? No, not really. He just didn't have the opportunity to prove himself against more elite competition like Ali or Lewis did. I'm not saying he couldn't have beaten the guys they fought, I'm simply saying that he has a pretty thin resume for an atg heavyweight. It's well known that he needed careful management for a while so he could develop his skill set. From the start of his career he was being groomed for the heavyweight title so it's not at all confusing why he was carefully managed. Had nothing to do with being Italian like many racists on here would like to claim.

My best heavyweight imo is Ali but Louis and Dempsey are on par with him then Lewis, Holmes and Marciano. Really the only thing that makes me set Ali apart from Louis and Dempsey is the his resume and more importantly the fact that he won fights he was supposed to get destroyed in. He also came back and beat guys in rematches that held stylistic advantages over him like Frazier and Norton. The first Frazier and Norton fights I somewhat excuse because Ali was rusty, out of shape and/or his legs were bad.

Marciano never lost, he is the best HW in history. Even Ali's dancing would succumb, maybe Ali at 190 would win to combat Marciano's 185 pounds?

AJ could juggle every HW Champ pre-1980's with one hand.

Joshuas 6'6 frame and athletic body coupled with great training would be his down fall to the less skills below 200 pounders BC he would be viewed as a threat and his glass jaw would be a mile long target.

Come on a 250 pound fast HW that's effective ? In what realm?

    Ah yeah, true.

    Something to consider though;
I heard AJ lifted a van with his bare hands, while Butterbean and Tyson Fury were wrestling inside it.

Do you really need speed and technique when you have such strength?

Every time I get bored of it, he has one little zinger that extends the joke a bit longer.
    This isn't a 12 round joke, it's a 45 rounder.

The difference between me and Joshua in strength is minimal , the difference between me and Joshua in speed is vast. Imagine what I would have done to any era of a HW division ? Lucky for these guys I was cursed with a skin disease otherwise I could show you your question instead of answering it.

The answer is yes speed defeats power, that's why the cruiser weight division was created to protect the bigger men. Boxing knows bigger fighters attract more viewers.

Well that's why we have something called Pound for Pound.
So we can acknowledge that guys like Ali, Joshua, Tyson, and Louis are really good boxers, without having the burden of putting them in the ring against featherweights and getting embarrassed.

Thing is with Rocky is he was not conventional but it worked.

He was smaller than folks expect a great champion to look like. So many people cannot get past that even though there is a history of champions initially even lighter than Rocky making an impact on the modern division.

Rocky was not a face first cruiserweight. or swarmer. Whatever that means.

Marciano was not a fancy boxer puncher either.

He was simply exceptionally successful at making what he could not do into the thing he did not need to do. And the stuff he could do really well was always the thing his opponent could never prevent from happening.

Other champions were better at what they did. They looked better doing it. But Rocky was the one who made everything work for him when it counted. He was more effective at getting what he had count and what he couldn't do not count. Nobody could touch him for this. And on top of that, he did retire before there was any degeneration. So nobody can know for sure what it took to destroy him.

He remains the code that was not cracked. But Rocky still was around long enough for all that he did to stand up. It all really was legit. And there was enough of it to tick boxes for the time that he was around.

There literally was nothing more he could have done in the time that he had.

There was better champions. Who were around a lot longer. But that cannot take away from Rocky in his time.
