Just end this thread now enough's been said, when its all said and done, Floyd Mayweather is the real winner at the end of the day, hardly took damage his whole career, has built an empire outside the ring and his entire family is set for generations financially as well as his name being in the discussion as GOAT. Manny on the other hand, also a great fighter, but damn, i heard he still waking up from a JMM right hand and hes late for his next lesson of schooling with Floyd.

A few here have mentioned FMJ could have fought de la Hoya. I'm just wondering when exactly.

Was it '96 when Oscar was at 140? FMJ had just turned pro, so obviously not
Was it '98 when Oscar was at 147? FMJ was super feather which is like 4 weight classes different
Was it '01 when Oscar was at 154? FMJ was still at super feather
Was it '04 when Oscar was at 160? FMJ was around 135-140

I guess the only way they could fight is by Oscar moving down significantly in weight and FMJ moving up significantly. But then neither of them would be at their best.

I really can't see a scenario where they could have fought and it would be a meaningful fight. Unless of course i missed something at the time!

Barrera and Morales were clearly on the decline when Pac had got them due to the 2 wars they waged against eachother ECT..

But you see prime isn't always about age, because there's certainly older fighters who were past their primes who performed at a higher level than guys who were younger and in the prime of their lives.

Barrera turned pro at 15 years old and was accustomed to fighting men, waged wars against Mckinney, was stopped by junior Jones and battled countryman Morales to an epic trilogy. Barrera was burned out and needed to recover since he had been a pro already 14 years and didn't take much time off as he was a very active fighter.

Morales going into the first fight with pac was looked at as a declined fighter as well, but is a prime example of an old fighter turning back the clock, seeing what he accomplished at the twilight of his career.. (not old by age, but by the wear and tear on his body from all the wars). Look at Vargas.. 29 years old when he retired and was a completely shot fighter.

To be honest, both Corrales and Castillo are future HOF'ers, and both were prime when Floyd beat them.

Cotto is HOF'er, not prime, but clearly far from shot. Canelo, Hatton may be not on peak but not too far from it. Both will probably enter HOF in the future

You saying bareera was not at his best when Pac fought him in the first fight is laughable
    He was a p4p fighter

After his split decision loss to morales he went 8 fights without losing and beat hamid/sanchez/kelly before fighting Pac

Even after the Pac loss he beat morales

It was a great ATG win for Pac

Nope... Barrera was burned out, Morales was suffering from wear and tear on his body, and Cotto was never the same after the beating by bricks he took against Cheato.. he also looked terrible against clottey and lost that fight imo.
