I tell you what, if Parker and Wilder are worth all this money then why don't they just cut out AJ, freeze him out and fight each other in a huge unification fight? Parker Vs Wilder in the US, PPV and let's see what happens, let's see what the purses are for that, let's see what it makes.
I am not against a PPV if its a decent match up , id probably pay for Joshua vs Parker but the problem with Joshua is he gets paid so much it leaves a garbage undercard, id pay for it but it would need at least another two world level fights added to some top level euro , british title level bouts
Joshua, whether people like it or not, is the big draw. There will be a rematch clause if Joshua should lose. I wonder if the rematch would be worth a 50/50 split? The question for me is can Joshua sell in the States? Wilder couldn't so will a British/ Nigerian fighter sell? Parker and Wilder should take the money and fight him. If they cause an upset then there is massive potential in the rematches. 1-1 then a massive decided event.
Yes, but if Eddie Hearn is such a great promoter he should be able to sell an heavyweight unification fight as something even bigger than what AJ usually gets. If we're resigned to saying AJ's potential opponents are all equally viable, then he might as well rematch Takam or Whyte indefinitely.
In a time where pretty much any **** can get their hands on a version of a world title the fact that it's a unification doesn't make it that much more appealing.
There's some truth to that. But the last few weeks everyone on these forums keeps talking about AJ-Wilder and AJ-Parker so, for whatever reason, there seems to be something about the possibility of those fights that appeal. I think it's the belts. Specifically WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO. I believe the unification of those FOUR titles (never have all four been unified at Heavyweight before, and not since Lennox Lewis have the WBC, WBA and IBF been unified together) would be very significant. And then, the possibility of the holder of those belts facing Tyson Fury, who has claims "lineal" championship, this should all be big stuff in the division. Rather than the alternative, which is the status quo perpetuating itself.
Hearn is trying to make it happen though,He offered Wilder-Whyte in Febuary then AJ-Parker in March, then if Wilder and Joshua both won they would've fought in the Summer, then whoever wins then face Fury.Joshua Hires Hearn to get him the best deal, not giving others their best paydays. From what i see of Hearn he is trying to get them made, look at how he has said he wants to sign Fury and offered Wilder so much money to come to the UK.Wilder and Parker just want a cashout it is quite obvious which is why them two do not want to face eachother.
I think Wilder will beat Joshua if i'm being honest,i can see one of his crazy windmills landing on Joshua but Parker i'm not sure, maybe i'm looking at points more likely.
Its a shame this fight is all business talk and not about the fight talk... Parker should not be a world champion and is looking to cash in.
I think Parker wants a payday, not a "cash out". Parker probably believes he can beat Joshua. I don't see why not. Better to fight Joshua and maybe lose than fight awkward sods like Hughie Fury for less money and maybe lose. Wilder, I'm not sure he really wants the Joshua fight at all. I think they are more about making some noise to boost interest in Wilder's next few fights, see if they can turn things around and make him some sort of star in America and world boxing. Parker on the other hand has less options. And less to lose. He's the youngest of the three. I fancy his chances against any of them. He's unspectacular but solid.
I think Joshua would be more likely to land something devastating on Wilder before Wilder does on him. It's an interesting fight.
