Well to be fair to Gamboa he is 35. Jumping all over weight classes, and his style has been reliant on reflexes and speed.

I mean...he lost twice. But yeah, from the heights of the pedestal onto which he was thrust (projected by many while coming up to carry the sport as p4p #1 like Atlas in the post-Mayweather era) down to our mortal terrain, quite a drop.

Realistically though he went from being elite to still very good.

Important to note, the decline was more in perception of him than his ability itself. (though it had declined as well...as to be expected, since he's 35 and has been at this a while, climbing rather high in weight - ten years a pro from lightweight down reverse-chronologically through feather and before that logging 250 amateur bouts starting down at light fly..)

    Kovalev TKO10 but struggles throughout
Gamboa TKO 9.. still think he has enough to beat a guy like Sosa
Barrera TKO 7 in a war

Barrera vs Valera should be a great fight. Gamboa gets knocked out. Shabranskyy getting a title shot is as sad as Arreola getting one.

I think Kovalev will be one sided, Shabranskyy may even be KOd in the first.
Gamboa will be swarmed and dropped several times by Sosa and stopped late.
Like you said, Barrera-Valera has all the makings of a war, which is precisely why I think Valera wins, I bet Barrera will think he can take Valera's power, much like Corrales-Machado and end up paying for it.

Kovalev-Shabranskyy should be KO 5 for Kovelev, but maybe the Krusher is not the same fighter he was. Shabranskyy isn't bad, despite his loss to Barrera.

Barrrera wil beat Valera fairly easily, perhaps KO 6.

    Sosa will stop Gamboa late.

This is for the vacant IBA super welterweight title.

I've seen Valera as an 800+ underdog. If he does win, well, statistically big upset.

Also, to be fair, his PED distributor got shut down in early 2013

My money is Kovalev/Shabranskyy under 7½ rounds, Kovalev to win in rounds 1-3; Sosa straight to simply beat Gamboa plus a little stab on the draw in that bout; and Berrera/Valera under 8½ rounds.
