The only reason prime Roy ie. roided Roy wasn't sparked out even more is because the vast majority of the bums he feasted on were too slow and devoid of skill and slickness to land clean shots he couldn't see coming on that disgusting glass jaw of his. That wouldn't be the case against a fighter with the cat-like reflexes, blinding hand speed and accuracy of Floyd.
The thing you're doing here right now is saying that a guy who won his first title at 130 pounds and was even small for WW is going to move up and spark a prime Roy Jones. You're saying that, so that's why you're being ridiculous.
No I'm saying there are levels to boxing AND that Roy always had a disgusting glass jaw. Alexander Ustinov weighed 279lbs tonight against Manuel ''Diamond Boy'', whereas Mairis Briedis only weighed 213lbs. That's a much bigger weight gap than Floyd vs Roy (even roided Roy), compare what Briedis did to ''Diamond Boy'' to what Ustinov did.
Looool!!! You still don't get it do ya? Serge is tearing you apart limb from limb!! Lol This is classic!
There was absolutely no need for the C-W. Floyd didn't need it. He'd have gotten much more credit just letting Canelo weigh-in at 154 and rehydrating to whatever he needed to. It's a tough question. Because you've got to take into account Floyd's age etc. Roy's win over Bernard was a very good win, especially as he had a fractured hand, and Bernard then went 12 years unbeaten.
Floyd was one of the greatest of all time. And his longevity was incredible. You have to give him a ton of credit. But as I always say: "Everyone's circumstances are different" Guys like Ray did lose when they were younger. But he lost to a peak version of Roberto Duran. If Floyd had fought guys of his calibre, he may not have been undefeated by the time he fought Canelo. Many people think that he lost to Castillo. But I get your point. Floyd was special, and I thought the win over Canelo was great. But I just wish that he hadn't have demanded the C-W.
This is fair. But Bernard not having fought better opposition was just due to circumstances. Put the 2 fighters head to head. In terms of ability, was the version of Bernard who Roy fought, a better fighter than the version of Canelo who Floyd fought? Statistics don't hold a lot of weight with me.
It's a tough question if you break it down. Canelo been more accomplished than Bernard, didn't mean that he was a better fighter. Canelo wasn't bigger than Floyd, he was only heavier. Canelo was also very wary of Floyd's speed, and he wouldn't fully commit himself as he was fearful of getting countered. Bernard fought Roy hard, and he was slightly bigger than Roy in terms of height and reach. He was also in his physical prime, and Roy had a fractured hand. There's a lot to take into account here. But I think Floyd being 36 maybe one of the most important factors to consider.
So what if their resumes were in a different order? I think you should focus more on their abilities. There's also many other factors to consider.
Jones, clearly. Look at what 'Nard accomplished after that loss. Canelo has done nothing of note since losing to Floyd.
No he was not that guy, Alvarez wasn't drained to a zombie when he fought Golovkin plus he was much more experienced, he was in his prime. Why do you make statements that are that easy to refute?
Problem is, 93 Hops was neither. Not yet. If he was, we need to seriously reconsider how Mercado is ranked and why Mercado himself never beat a ranked fighter despite his success vs Hopkins the 1st time around. The answer is that Hopkins wasn't what he'd become. A 97 Hopkins would've wiped the floor the 93 version....so why are people pretending the 97 version is the one Roy beat?
