Sticking with Groves, probably on points. Since Saunders, Jr still hasn't fought someone who can properly 'box' and I've maintained a solid jab is going to be his downfall. He does have excellent work rate and I guess he could overwhelm Groves but I just don't see it. Groves isn't going to be easy easy to find as Yildrim or Abraham and I just wonder if Jr is going to have the IQ to do anything beyond throwing an uppercut from the other side of the ring. Cox was an ideal warm up fight for Groves as he is very much forward thinking and Groves was able to counter him very well. I mentioned it in a post before that sometimes Groves looks like he is being overwhelmed when in reality not much is landing. It was noticeable against Groves and Chudinov but even against Eddie G you could see it a bit. It's hard to describe, just something about his demeanor makes him look uncomfortable.

I've been a critic of Jr for a long time but he's proven to be better than what I expected of him already. If he beats Groves then all credit from me because that's a legit big win.

I'm going for a Groves win, possibly a late stoppage, once the first Four are out of the way and things begin to settle, GG takes over and picks Jnr with accurate heavy shots, totally discouraging him.

He`s younger by 18 months which in boxing means nothing.

Groves has a lot more mileage on him.

When this fight was 1st announced most polls I have seen had it slightly favouring Jr,
Now the majority appear to be favouring Groves and the gap actually appears to be widening from what I have seen.

TBH I always thought that Groves would be the favourite given the amount of trash people talk about Jr.
I am surprised they are even that close.

Groves will start off well like he did against Froch 1, but unfortunately for Groves he doesn't have the gas tank to live with someone like Eubank, his workrate will allow him to take over the fight & either win via late stoppage or UD.

Watching the face to face, it is clearly evident the size advantage Groves has over Junior. He won’t be able to outmuscle Groves on the inside cos he’ll just get chucked about like Cox did in round 3. Groves is a much better boxer than Eubank on the outside.

This idea that Groves can’t do 12 rounds is a bit of a myth in my opinion. Murray thought that and got his head boxed off. Gutknecht is in a terrible way after doing 12 rounds with him. He lost a contentious 12 round split decision against Jack whom is a lot bigger than Junior and has the work rate too. He did 12 with Rebrasse. Early in his career he did with Degale. So where does this poor gas tank thing come from?

Not too sure Twentyman, presumably when he looked ragged against Froch.

TBH the size difference was pretty evident, Groves must have been 10lbs bigger, but looked 20lbs bigger because of the clothing they were wearing. I wonder how much of a difference there will be in the ring, Yildirim also looked much bigger in the early pressers but as the fight got closer and he boiled down, the size difference was a lot less noticeable.

Groves has never been bullied and has only ever lost to elite fighters, Groves is a big 168, although I still think Jr is a good sized 168 despite what others say.

This is by far and away Jr's biggest test, and you can't say the same for Groves, he has already been tested on the biggest stage in front of 80k people.

That’s where I think it comes from too, mate. In hindsight & with experience, I reckon the Groves of today wouldn’t have blown his load trying to finish one of the most durable boxers we’ve seen from these isles. He’d box his way to a comfortable 12 round decision now.

I agree. Yet the man who has only done 12 3 times, lost one and beat an old shadow of a middle weight in another has this unbelievable engine. I've commented many times on Groves engine as I know you and others have. I believe people see what they want to see sometimes.
I must be crazy going against all your opinions but I'm standing by my prediction of Eubank Jr being the one to gas in this fight.

This has a twinge of the Henry Wharton V Senior about it...

Senior faced a similar opponent to Groves in Wharton..

I do hope Senior isn't advising Jnr based on his fight, and how to handle things.

    Groves is not Wharton...

Wharton was a great guy to watch and was an exciting fighter, come forward style easily to deal with, and if you couldn't he would give you hell...

Groves reminds me a little of Wharton, not afraid of a fight, will get in with anyone and can punch hard.

Groves also is a smarter boxer than Henry, "No Disrespect to Henry".

I just don't see how Senior can see this as a foregone conclusion, it is a much more of a dangerous fight for his son, than it was between him and Wharton.

    Groves win for me.

Eubank Jr wins this one, the press conference was quite insightful. Eubank appears possessed, he really has that boxers winning mindset as much of a ***** he is. George Groves really annoys me, you could tell he wrote a list of what to say at the presser. I also think Eubanks is currently THE most exciting boxer from britain at least and we need him as a champion.
