It still blows me away that somebody with the granite whiskers of Amonsot has on his record not one but two stoppage losses to a light-hitting, dead-average guy like Simson Butar-Butar. In those days Amonsot had a reputation for being a bit of a wild boy, sort of the Pinoy answer to Ricardo Mayorga: didn't train (got banned for a time from the ALA gym, which takes a lot to do) and was a chain-smoker and raging alcoholic, showing up to many of his fights drunk. I don't think either of the Butar-Butar kayos had much to do with his chin nor with the Indonesian's power; he just wasn't in any fit condition to be fighting.

 

Eduard Troyanovsky vs. Carlos Manuel Portillo, 12 rounds @ light welterweight

 

This is a WBA title eliminator. The championship at 140lbs is currently vacant. Troyanovsky is rated #4, Portillo #3. Ahead of them are Kyrill Relikh (for some reason, coming off two consecutive losses) and #1 contender Rances Barthelemy.

 

Nah, the Pink Hammer was full of it...he's just a wet paper bag, whether he wants to admit it or not.

Both of the stoppage losses to Butar-Butar were TKOs rather than knockouts; Czar was just caught flush and stunned into a frozen stupor because he was shit-faced and had no business competing.

Eventually he got his act together, clean up and took his professional career seriously, culminating in him and Katsidis giving us the present of that all-time classic.
