Not sure what has gone on here but I'm starting to lose respect for the McGuigan's - it seems like they are bitter that Frampton left them for Warren.
Anybody know what has gone on?

He still had one fight left of their contract didn’t he?

I dislike the McGuigans but I think they’re probably half in the right here and being bitter ****s they’ve pursued it.

Crazy how close they were and now it’s came to this.

Of the two sides in this dispute who do people think is most likely to have breached the terms of a contract? Exactly.!

The McGuigans must be confident though, if they are bringing a lawsuit. Who managed carl? Was it the mcguigans?

Confident but also pretty stupid, Frampton is managed by MTK now who are owned by Daniel Kinahan. He's probably the last person you'd want to take on!

Obviously if a party to a contract feels hard done by they have a right...a human right....to pursue the matter legally. If the other party has done nothing wrong then they have nothing to worry about. All good. Nothing to see here.

At the same time, I cant see them getting heavy over it with the heat their under. If its legal, which it is, McGuigan and co wont give a **** about the Kinahans. They are not involved in their kind of world, imo you cant strong arm a straight man !

They have done Frampton up like a kipper. He obviously signed **** he didn't look at. Including the move of signing up as a company director, FFS. They will take the kid to the cleaners unless his new management company can aid in working out some sort of agreement, pay them a bit of money and the McGuigans can be on their ****ing merry way.

Sad to see. Ultimately the only winners here are the lawyers who get rich regardless

If it's indeed true the McGuigsns owed him money he has every right to walk away morally but legally possible not. Either way Frampton kept the McGuigsns financially afloat and for them to treat a son/brother like this shows their true colours for sure. Why did they need him to sign a contract if there so close? Eddie Hearn does not have a signed contract with most of his fighters. How many has he taken to court ? Cyclone have had one high profile fighter for any length of time and taking them to court. Barry said Cyclone was better for Carl as they were family kept him away from Hearn whilst Carl was at Matchroom, was happy for Matchroom to fund the rise of Carl and then when he became big money talked him into a family venture and shafted the boy. Either way a court case will show the McGuigans for what they are morally and I bet it won't make good reading.

If he signed stuff without checking the small print surely that's his fault you can't blame someone else for your own stupidity.

The Mcguigans are going to lose out in terms of reputation even if they win in court. Frampton is a hero in belfast and seems a very nice family man. It all smacks of the mcguigans being unhappy that they have lost their cash cow. But they should let the man carry on with his career and let him go.

It could get messy if we was under contract and also if he was owed money. Nobody could ever defend him or fight his corner because every part of his team was a mcguigan!

As his management team and promoters Cyclone can not just let Carl walkaway if he is under contract, If they did that what message does that send to the rest of their fighters and also thier promotional rivals ?

This is a case of Carl spitting the dummy and then breaching his contract to sign for Warren.

Realistically though, Frampton is counter-claiming. What could he have to counter claim with? Perhaps there is something to the story of the McGuigans owing him money / taking more than their fair share.

Does that rule any contract null and void? I don't know, I'm not a legal expert. There are a few similarities with Calzaghe's lawsuit a few years ago (plenty of differences too). Sad to see but it's definitely painting the McGuigans in a negative light
