Did they already have the rematch? Because that's not what I saw in the fight. I saw Golovkin smash Canelo all over the ring with his trip hammer jab and catch him on the ropes over and over. He outworked and outlanded him in every round except one, and Canelo was on his bicycle 80% of the time, except for when he was too exhausted to run and got lit up on the ropes.

 

No they actually want you to think he was invincible but now for reasons of damage control and to not make themselves look stupid, he’s “deteriorating”. You know, just all those wars where he only seen the 11th round 3 times total in his professional career and all. Just the slew of cab drivers can even have a toll on your power.

Other than just walking forward, no. The guy was tentative even when Canelo was on the ropes. You can’t make this **** up. To his credit though, he looked like Margarito lol

 

Think that's something for Mexico to decide. I've never bothered to look into it, but it'd be pretty ****ed if a European impressed a bunch of Americans who labeled him Mexican style without the Mexican fanbase co-signing that label.

 

Golovkin was the Mexican style, El Pollo was the chicken style! Good thing Oscar owned the judges!

 

You know what’s funny. G did an interview in all Russian or whatever the hell he speaks with Steve Kim. He was complaining that politics are even behind whoever is in charge of highlights because they just showcase Canelo’s.

My point is this. The material to even work with is garbage on Golovkin’s end. What are they going to show. A guy throwing a look busy jab literally missing atleast 80% of his total punches all the while making Canelo look like a defensive genius on par with the Floyd and Rigos of the world.

Just stop. G refuses to watch the fight. The fight that you spoke of did not happen. G was a tentative little princess that was even scared to throw power punches because of Canelo’s counter punch.

GGG seems to be doing pretty well. He’s recognized as the #1 p4p fighter in the sport, recognized as the only Middleweight champion that matters and is making some very big paychecks thanks to Canelo and his promotional team.

 

Golovkin's style is very popular, he comes to fight and could have knocked El Pollo out if he had wanted to and should have, but he chose to keep coming and out jabbing El Pollo, landing more punches.............

 

how was it handled poorly?
doesn't seem that long ago when golovkin was sitting and rotting in felix sturm's stable - staying there would have been a career poorly handled!
but he left that dead-end alley, came to the US, made his name, and the rest is history

the quality of opposition wasn't great, but neither was it for Bernard Hopkins - yet like Hopkins, a big name (two for Hopkins) came chasing him due to his notoriety
i'd say he is a textbook case of how to combine ability with a successful career path

 

Disagreed with you loads in the build up to the fight but this is a good post. I've been a GGG high investor for a long time but at times some of the stuff on here about him can be quite intolerable. Although it works both ways in the boxing world; I listened to a podcast a few months ago telling me that Golovkin only had an average chin. Speaking of which, although I thought he lost Canelo still needs to be getting plenty of credit for his performance too.

I also agree about how he has managed as you mentioned below. He should have had bigger fights way, way back. They made his style extremely marketable but the fact they still struggled to make a lot of fights happen is telling. Sure, some fighters did bottle it but they should have made a bigger deal when it happened and not rely on guys on forums talking about it.

 

I think its Canelo who's been scamming his fans... Mexican warrior my arse! He did an immense Dirrell impersonation against GGG. Cash cow even got an MD versus Floyd...

1) Golovkin's connect rate was 31% So you're wrong, right off the bat.
2) Canelo's connect rate was 33%. That means that by your standards, Golovkin is likewise "a defensive genius on par with the Floyd and Rigos of the world" since there's a measly 2% in it.
3) Canelo IS a defensively superb fighter.
4) I love it when guys try to get all hardass and blow themselves up with their own petard

He threw 70 more power punches than Canelo did! I guess that makes Canelo, El Pollo Alvarez then. You're destroying yourself here! If Saul would have stood his ground then we would have had a FIGHT.
