Sadly I believe Froch is right, groves will be on a hiding on to nothing against Jr, even though I will be rooting for him to win.

He was struggling with a domestic level fighter in Coxx, who was making it very uncomfortable for Groves with his over aggressive front foot style and during stages in the fight was clearly stunned by Cox's punches. The lack of experience was the very thing which ensured that Groves eventually gained the upper hand in taking advantage of a school boy error in Cox failing to protect his body after throwing.

Now Jr is ten times the fighter that Cox is and has a similar all action style but much more refined, more aggressive, more relentless and with guile and experience behind it to ensure he is not leaving his body or head unprotected or there to be hit.

Groves as a very good counter puncher there is no doubt. However on this occasion he will not be afforded the luxury of falling into bad habits of leaving his chin hanging in their air while struggling for breath with lacklustre stamina. He will not be able to time the speed, velocity and barrage of punches Eubank throws. Sadly and I say this lamentably, he will be overwhelmed by Eubank's relentless work rate until the fight gets waved off in a similar fashion to the first Froch encounter.

Here's Froch's reasoning as to why Groves doesn't stand a chance.

Nice post, but all jokes aside we are entering into 2018 and I really hope that you gather the courage to finally kill yourself. Just do it. Here a video to encourage you.

Does your mother know you are using her computer to encourage strangers to commit suicide or is she in on it too?

Groves does hit harder than Froch but if Jr has indeed inherited his fathers granite mandible, Groves is in for a painful night.

Groves doesn't deal with pressure well, he isn't very good at boxing off the back foot, he's far more effective when standing in front of his opponent with his feet set to punch. If he can't keep Jr off him, he'll be forced back and won't be able to compete. Then Jr will grind him down much like Froch did in their first fight.

What I've noticed is that he likes to cover up in a shell and wait it out hoping the onslaught will stop when he is being bombarded with flurries.

That won't bode well for him against Jr as he has decent snap on his punches, not to mention the punishment won't stop.

And I think it has already been proven that Jr has a solid chin. I've seen him take solid punches to the chin, by decent punchers such Chudinov, Abraham and O'Sullivan without flinching.

I don't much like either fighter but I'm leaning to Eubank on this one.

Can that quote really be from Froch? I think it lack "at Wembley in front of 80 000".

groves is the perfect litmus test in which to assess how good eubank jnr is

groves has been there done that and we know his level

eubank looks the part but this is a step up IMO i think he is a level above groves but until he proves it you can never be sure.

wins this and shines and we know eubank is the real deal.

    It's interesting.
If Froch believes that, he would probably either think Eubank is a stylistic nightmare for Groves, or that Jr is actually clearly better as himself, going by how his 2 fights against Groves played out.

So, "impossible" should be taken by quite a grain of salt here.

I still think Grover beats Jr.

O'Sullivan wobbled him in the 3rd round. Groves hits way harder than those guys anyway, though at WORST I think it's safe to assume he still has decent enough whiskers

Terrible video. If you need encouragement to end it, there can be only one option:

Froch is all over the place. He initially says no one can beat Eubank on points & there is no way for groves to beat him, goes as far as saying as it's impossible, then ends his arguement by saying Groves could outbox Jr and win on points

It's worth noting that the old man was something of an idol to Froch, it's natural he'd be effusive in praise of the son. That, and he's speaking rhetorically, of course.

Having said that, I find it hard to see how Groves will pull it off myself. The strutting Saint George of four years ago would stand a much better chance of success against Chris - he was never the smartest fighter, but he was sharper, fresher, more full of himself, his gifts were at their peak back then. I think it would've been a tough fight even still, with George's bouts of macho chutzpah and his tendency to fade making things very interesting, but the outcome would've been much less predictable. It's not that he's changed his style so much as he's deteriorated. I think a certain amount of robustness and vigor has been ground out of him (a factor Froch either neglected to mention or just hasn't observed), and I expect that to show up very clearly in this fight, with the experience he's accrued only counting in so much as the amount of punishment he'll be used to weathering once Jr. gets him where he wants him and starts turning the screw. He might be able to keep hanging in there for a while when the hard rain starts falling, but only to prolong the inevitable.

Needless to say, I have Eubank comfortably inside the distance.
