I think its clear Wilder is and has been ducking for his whole career. But now Eddie Hearn is saying that Wilder and his team wouldnt accept £10m which is around $13.5m for the Joshua fight. Apparently this is because he wants a 50/50 split and is more concerned about how much Joshua is getting. When Canelo offered GGG $15m guarenteed people said for GGG to turn it down as he was the unified champion and should get a fair split not a lump sum. The issue in Wilders case is that he doesnt have as many belts as Joshua, isnt anywhere near as big a draw and has a significantly worse resume with twice as many fights. His last purse is also around 1/10th of Joshuas. People can ask why Eddie Hearn & Joshua get to call the shots but the simple answer is Wilders team cannot come up with an offer that would pay both fighters what they need. Which means theyve never made an offer, which therefore means Joshua cant be ducking (as much as Wilder says) as how can you duck a fight you havent been offered? Should Wilder accept the £10m and stop ducking or is there any reasonable way he should get more??
That's a lot of money to turn down, that's like 10 times his last purse. If the fight generates $39 mill like Joshua/Wlad that's basically a 65/35 split which is more than Hearn is willing to currently pay Parker. So you can't say it isn't a good offer from Hearn. Plus Hearn offered the Whyte fight to guarantee Joshua as Finkel and Wilder requested, so that 2 fights for a guaranteed $16.5 mill minimum and more likely $17.5 mill once he gets US TV rights for the Whyte fight. But Wilder should get a split, just nowhere near the 50% he is currently demanding. But it's clear whatever Hearn offers Wilder and his team do not want the fight right now, even though they pretend they do. If Wilder's team wanted the fight now they would undercut Parker and only ask for 34% so Wilder makes more financial sense, but clearly they haven't done so for obvious reasons.
In other news, dog bites man. I am not even sure "ducking" is the right word. He just doesn't fight world class fghters, ever. "Duck" implies that he has earned some kind of status. He is one of a whole bunch of paper, name-only champs and that is all..
Just another case of an ego getting in the way of business sense. Why can't these guys see the bigger picture? If Wilder beats Joshua then he will be able to dictate the terms. He can't be very confident.
Wilder's handlers are a bunch of amateurs. And they pumped Wilder's head so full of hot air that he actually starts believing that he is entitled to fighting in Vegas "because it's a mecca of boxing" and "I deserve 50% and I am the A list because I got the belt that everyone wants". I mean this is just so dumb, so illogical that I can't believe Deontay came up with this non-sense himself. Someone really stupid must have spoon-fed that to him.
He still has a hunger for knocking over cans. Joshua has to be his last fight before retirement because he will be brutally starched. I don't rate Joshua that highly. But objectively, using my limited knowledge of boxing, I think Wilder is absolutely ****ing terrible in the ring.
Why are the American fans claiming it's fake news? This content is protected at 54:11 they start to actually talk about it.
Quite incredible that when Eddie Hearn (the promoter with all the say in this fight) says he will offer 10million that its seen as fake news. But when Wilder says everyones ducking, even though hes sent no offers at all, then his fanboys believe every word.
