Floyd Mayweather resolve and toughness was never really tested never been in a hard hard hard fight!

Yeah he went through hell because hes not on the same level man.. Plain and simple

 

Some of his threads can be quite valid. Others range from a bit silly (this one) to plain absurd ("Lomachenko is a more complete fighter then Mayweather").

It's also a bit boorish to base whole threads on categorical statements and then try to shout down any differing points of view.

 

He was tested by Castillo, DLH and Maidana in their fights. But the judges gave him a TUE after.

As I said, some of his threads have worthwhile discussion potential.


As for this one, it can be translated to a complaint about Floyd never getting his ass kicked badly in a fight. The kind of adversity referred to seems to be the type that is invariably followed by defeat, judging by the examples cited (Pac lost to Morales, and I know that TS and I can agree that Eubank was well on his way to losing his Watson rematch until a freak occurence).

I'm sure there's a style and a compound of attributes, certainly later in his career, that would've beaten Floyd up and defeated him. Do I need to see it to know that? Not really. I always thought Margarito at 147lb would've been the most arduous and physically exhausting of all the matches that Mayweather could've fought in his career, although I would've picked Floyd to summon up all his resources and get through the assignment with his 0 intact. In deeper eras, he takes a bruising L if he goes all the way up to 154. It never happened in this era. That's the galaxy for ya.

What I find funny is everyone says Pac has been in wars. Doesn't that mean he fought guys at/near his skill level? Whereas Floyd makes his fight look easy with the exception of a few fights. Pac didn't exactly fight fighters when they were at their best neither except for Barrera. After that he fought fighters when it was SAFE to do so, which is the criticism laid on Floyd.

The problem is, pointing out that Margarito is the one fighter Floyd categorically declined offers to fight (not just once), and that Al Haymon (allegedly) asked matchmakers not to discuss with his client, inevitably leads to circular debates about plaster wraps. And a grown man can weary of redirecting other grown men to the same May '64 Boxing Illustrated article that documented Hugh Benbow and Perry Payne applying plaster of paris to Cleveland Williams' wraps to test its effectiveness for punching, which resulted in gloves full of cracked, crumbled chunks of plaster (not conducive to repeated punching without considerable pain) after five strikes of the heavybag.

That test is why I also never believed Luis Resto's claim that Panama Lewis coated his wraps in plaster in addition to removing padding from his gloves. It just seemed like once he'd made his confession to Drath that he was complicit in the plot, he needed to go to further to paint Lewis as an even bigger mastermind of evil than he already was.
