I believe it, Wlad just seemed to have more snap and weight on his punches.

Vitali, also injured his shoulder against Byrd and I'm not sure his left was ever the same. Started using it just for pawing, short punches, and range fighting.

Vitali didn't land as cleanly on Byrd. But Wlad does hit harder. No arm puncher even like Foreman is going to hit harder than Wlad. It also depends on what Wlad shows up.

Against Peter he didn't fully commit to punches where Vitali did bc he was willing to take shots to land them if need be.

Wlad is a top 5 puncher in HW boxing period.

A lot of boxers talking about other boxers they fought come out weird--you know, the guy I beat easy was much better than the guy that slaughtered me.

But Bryd gives an in-depth and articulate analysis which seems right on.

Whats more interesting is the revelation that Byrd beat Vitali without ever seeing any footage on him..
Took the fight on 8 days notice.
    Weighed 200 pounds
Had no game plan. Never seen him box. Winged it.
    Still won.

    Good point.

Also, it's interesting how he mentions his size disadvantage as a big factor.
Yet he didn't consider himself out of depth because of it.

Very balanced compared to the arguments here where it's black and white.

Also, Wlad is clearly a special fighter. Not just a guy who beat people because he was big. And I think this interview really reinforces that.

As usual you are wrong. Byrd was 210 3/4 pounds. Get it right Dino. Where do you get 200 from? Either you make stuff up or are badly misinformed! I say a bit of both.

Vitali also took the fight on short notice. Byrd was in his prime and lucky. How do you know Byrd never saw Vitali fight? Prove that. You can't. Even injured early Vitali was well in the lead. The injury is the only reason Byrd won. Vitali feared for his career when the arm went numb.
Harold Lederman, HBO's unofficial judge, had Klitschko ahead 88-83 at the time of the stoppage.

Byrd was a great talent who came along in the division decades too late. It'd have been fun to watch him fight a career's worth of fights against guys his own size with a few vs bigger fighters, as that was the career arc most classic HW's careers wound up following.

Here's some fun facts on Byrd's career, with some numbers I churned out in Excel:

*In his 4 heavyweight losses, he was outweighed by an average of 26 pounds. That goes up if you include the Vitali fight and the Golota draw.

*Chris Byrd fought 42 heavyweight fights, going 37-4-1. Of those 42 fights, he was the heavier man only 8 times.

*Of those 8 times Byrd was the heavier man, 4 of them occurred in his first 8 heavyweight fights. That means, for the remaining 34 heavyweight fights, he was the heavier man a grand total of 3 times.

*His average weight as a heavyweight was 213.2 pounds; the average weight of his opposition was 228.9.

The dude gave up over 15 pounds, on average, every single heavyweight fight, for 42 fights
    - and that number is skewed downward by the matchmaking in his earliest bouts, where he was the heavier man a disproportionate amount of the time.

If I had more time, I'd like to run the numbers for other titlists, because I doubt any of them was the lighter man in heavyweight fights at the rate Chris Byrd was.

Classic Dino. He's probably been smashed on the same point a dozen times by now, but he'll keep plugging it.

Are you stupid or something? Im telling you what Byrd himself said in the clip , it has noting got to do me me.. How can i be wrong? You're arguing against Byrd's own claims , not mine.

Why are you claiming that you're right and Byrd is wrong??

    By Byrds own admission -
He took the fight on 8 days notice
Stepped on the scales in his clothing
Claimed to weigh under 208 pounds.

He never seen Vitali fight before because there was no footage available on him.

Byrd had already fought on HBO so Vitali had seen footage on him. Thats why Vitali and his team made the offer to Byrd.

Byrd turned up completely blind , underprepared , without any gameplan , yet still whooped Vitali's ass.

See that^^ Thats a fully healthy uninjured Vitali getting clowned by a Middle weight . That right there is why he quit and that is why he ducked and ran from the rematch.

wlad places his shots better than vitali, vits is crude. its no wonder he hits harder. but he throws less, because he needs to defend his chin.
