Old Time Heavies vs Modern Day Heavies 3 on 3 tournament

2-1 or 3-0 in favor of the old time team.

 

3-0 win for the old guys. The newbies are journeymen imo.

 

In this matchup it's a case of the bigger they are, the harder they fall. The only one that I see putting up some resistance is Arreola.

 

The old timers would take it pretty handily.

I don't think that the matching is fair though.

There is a big qualitative gap.

 

LOL there's a fairly large mismatch in skill. Make it Povetkin, Joshua and Fury, and I'll go with the modern heavies despite none of them being ATG's.

 

Not really. I pick who I think would win. Skills can over come size with limited skills.

You don't have to make them modern fighters to prove that point.

Walcott beat Hoff, a big man in his time.

Sharkey beat George Godfrey who would be in the top ten, even if he was the worst low blow artist of all time. He also beat Carnera. IMO, Godfrey and Carnera are better than:

Eric Molina 237 lbs
Chris Arreola 241 lbs
Gary Cornish 256 lbs

Now if Molina, Arreloa and Cornish were replace by say Bowe, Lewis and Klitschko. Walcott, Sharkey and Charles would not have much of a chance.
