Boxing rankings are a joke because the powers that be in boxing truly believe that boxing fans are ignorant, stupid as hell! Bob Bennett told me on the phone that boxing fans know nothing about boxing, that they don't know how to score a fight, but he said that Byrd was the best judge out there! Yes, he picked Byrd for the Golovkin/El Pollo fight! So, always remember that the powers that be in boxing believe that boxing fans are stupid/ignorant! It's time to stand up to those crooks!

debatable because I believe that Canelo outgrew the 154lb division and was actually better as a MW than a weight-drained Jr MW.

I can see the rationale there. I mostly agree as well. However from history's perspective he'll probably be considered as a JrMW moving up in that fight.

I think all of you are right depending on how you look at it. Certainly Canelo going up to SMW to fight Chavez then coming back down to 160 makes it hard to see him as a JrMW coming up, but he did make 154 a year ago when he fought Smith. At this point there's no doubt Canelo is a full fledged Middleweight, but if you go back 2 or 3 years, I think it was Gennady was seen as naturally the bigger man. Not just in weight (although that too) but just in how big he looked.

When you compare how big and muscular Gennady looked back when he fought Lemiuex for example vs how he looked in fights this year, I don't think he looks as big or as muscular as he used to. I think now he has a harder time making 160 and thus he looks slightly drained compared to him at his peak from a few years back. So that contributes to thinking Canelo is naturally bigger now. I mean, you combine Canelo gaining a few pounds of muscle over the last year or so vs Gennady getting older and looking slightly drained and washed out. But lets be real, back in 2013 or 2014 or even 2015 Gennady appeared to be the naturally bigger man than Canelo. Now not so much.

El Pollo gave up his middleweight title to avoid fighting Golovkin and that's a fact.................

Your post is senseless. To say Canelo is not #1 in your book makes that person a hater of Canelo. I think you need to do a reality check.

The OP claimed that Canelo was clearly beaten by Triple G. The reality is that the fight was a draw. The reality is that, however you scored it, Canelo fought well, was never hurt, and landed the far better harder more impressive punches. He also landed more body shots.

Considering Canelo was Boxrec's #1 P4P going into the Triple G fight, nothing that happened in the fight would have caused Canelo to lose his #1 P4P ranking. For somebody to say that Canelo was clearly beaten by Triple G like the OP is, well it sounds like that person is probably a Triple G fan or a Canelo hater.

Golovkin clearly beat Alvarez, no doubt about it...................even most Alvarez fans thought so, hell, Nacho Beristain had Golovkin winning the fight...................
