I love a good conspiracy theory but the cards reasonably reflected the action. The 7-5’s would’ve made it wider in case Cotto got a late knockdown if Ali winning was such a big deal. Otherwise Oscar Balboa shows up and breaks your thumb, cause ‘you shoulda planned ahead’.

What's IntentionalButt and PinoyProdigy's excuse? They scored it for Ali as well, as did most on the RBR, many of whom were Cotto fanboys.

Here's the very fair and balanced Richard Dwyer, and he's spot on in his assessment.

Haven't seen the fight, but everywhere I look the consensus was a 8 to 4 or 7 to 5 win for Ali.
So they just didn't give Cotto "the benefit of the big name... err... doubt" in this case. Seems like the right man won for a change.

I scored the fight 7-5 Ali, but that's not the point... I think Cotto would've got the nod if it wasn't his final fight...
We have seen noumerous of fights where the cashcow was given the benefit of the doubt...

Ali deserved the nod....it was a little surprising for me, but understand where you are coming from. From a business perspective it makes sense for the promoter to want to influence the outcome to put his younger fighter in a position to ride the wave of beating a legendary boxer like Cotto who was on his way out
