Fans, media and companies demanded Mayweather/Pac for years and it didn't happen until it was too late to really matter and Pac didn't get his 50/50 split and Pac was a far more popular fighter than Wilder.

If Wilder continues with his 50/50 split demand fans, media and companies will just say Wilder was pricing himself out and give Joshua a pass on unifying much like they did with Wlad when he couldn't unify the WBC belt throughout his career because Vitali held the belt and then Wilder who didn't show any real interest in the Wlad fight.

    Miles off.

You have ZERO clue about the ticket situation in the UK.

The tickets sell out LITERALLY as soon as they go on sale (touts buy them) then sell them back at a MUCH dearer price. So a £40 ticket becomes a £70 ticket etc. What you see isn't what you get. Trust me, it's a NIGHTMARE four real boxing fans over here.

Floyd could still not draw in that many people at a live gate regardless of ticket prices.

I fail to see how it's a bad thing that someone's potential is "capped" with attendances of SEVENTY THOUSAND plus.

AJ could literally fight Wilder's opposition and earn MULTIPLE millions per fight whilst still doing monumental numbers through attendance.

AJ is a top 5 lock for biggest sports star in the world, and will be the No.1 within 18 months. I'd only put Messi, Ronaldo, Federer and possibly Nadal or that other dude that went to PSG for £200 mill. Other than that, there isn't a boxer that's active that is doing what he's doing.

Who knows who Wilder is outside of Alabama? I mean, he hasn't even got an iota of popularity in his own country! AJ is already a national icon.

You get ticket touts in the US too, I used to work for a company that dealt with many companies that resold tickets for many sporting events in the US including boxing.

He's right in the regard that Hearn wants Joshua to break the US, it's why the Joshua/Wlad rematch was going to be in Vegas that fight actually had interest from Vegas Casino's and likely US cable TV networks looking for a possible PPV event.

But Wilder isn't a big enough name to currently ensure the fight can happen with a big Vegas Casino bank rolling it and a premium cable TV network like HBO or Showtime willing to air it as PPV. There's a reason why Hearn and Wilder wants to delay the fight, they're hoping the profile of the fight will grow over time and it can become the fight that breaks the US for Joshua, but currently that doesn't look likely. Maybe if Wilder beats Ortiz he'll be seen as a genuine threat and then US sports fans will take interest and it could happen there but Wilder and Joshua still have a lot to due to make this fight happen in the US.

He is relatively well known but that’s part of the problem!

Too many fight fans know about him and have gone “meh?”

It's obvious Wilder wants to milk his strap a couple more years before he risks it vs. AJ. There is nowhere in hell Wilder will ever get 50% against AJ. Against Parker he could, because Parker is as weak a global draw as Wilder is.

Considering how humble and concerned with legacy is, you'd think he'd bite the bullet on a world title unification fight and expect 'just' 50 percent of a multi-million pound fight to sit on top of his other millions he's already made.

    Oh well.

He's well known on here cos he's a Hot topic. Shame all of his fans on here don't bother watching his fights.

UK is way smaller than US but AJ has made the mainstream transition. He gets nearly a mil PPV because of all the casuals who have no interest in boxing buy all his fights.

    Wilder v Stiverne II

    824,000 American viewers.

    Joshua vs Klitschko

659,000 American viewers watched live on showtime (A Showtime record for a fight broadcase live in the afternoon).
738,000 American viewers watched the evening replay on HBO.

It's just complete stupidity to suggest that this fight would be bigger if held in the US.

Horn vs Mayweather in Sydney would make far far more sense.

@BlizzyBlizz Your comment about it? Obviously Wilder prefers the money, not the fight.

I agree, but the little huge difference is the opposition they've faced to retain (or keep as hostage) their respectives belts. Sooooo :dancer2:

I don't listen to fighters. They don't negotiate. They talk. Haymon and Finkel will work out a deal. We still don't know if the fight will be in the U.K. or US. Joshua's fans ride with anything said. They have to. Joshua is a reluctant trinket belt holder. If he wanted to really fight, the fight would get made asap. Instead they are riding the new wave. Wilders 50/50 call out is the new "duck".
