What's a fab 4 for the 90s? The fab 4 in the 80s were big because the dominant heavyweight Holmes was ducking and not being exciting. 00s were lousy because the Klitschko's were totally dominant and boring. 90s was a crazy awesome era for heavyweights with Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, and all the rest. The lower weights and p4p stars were eclipsed. But maybe Jones, Hopkins, Toney, Trinidad?

None of the current heavyweights are even close. Besides which they haven't fought each other and the way negotiations are going they may never fight each other.

there is no way those later 4 are the fab 4 of much. Mayweather was never in a great fight and handpicked. Cotto lost to them all. Mosley was older, and Manny? he fought everyone. I just don't see it like the Hagler/Hearns/Duran/Leonard era with Benitez.. A tougher more exciting era with different styles. Hearns long and powerful, with a jab. Ray dazzling. Hagler southpaw switch solid. Duran-inside skills and fighting spirit and power. And Benitez defense.

To be completely honest, It was more of an appreciation thread to greats who have all recently gone/going who had fought each other at some point.
If it was Pacquiao and Marquez, you would have to add Barrera but it would be wrong to leave out the great Morales, but Morales and Marquez never fought

I didnt say anything about a tougher era but called them the fab 4 and I cant see how you cant rate them as greats.
At WW I wouldnt be shocked if any could beat the other if prime on a good day

    Greetings

No doubt I rate those names you mentioned very highly but I went with the 4 I mentioned because they had all fought each other whereas Morales and Marquez never fought.

I sort of looked at minor similarities like the WW division. Floyd/Leonard, Mosely a LW like Duran and a bit older than the others. Cotto with a Hagler type of consistency as a great fighter etc.

It wasnt so much a serious discussion thread but more of an appreciation thread to recently retired/end of career greats

So for your good comparisons when did Morales and Marquez face each other. Which one of the other 3 did GGG face?

I didnt read all of your post (apologies)
The 4 I mentioned all fought each other at least once. Cotto was exciting in all of those fights. In fact all of the fights between those 4 had drama and action at some point also

Cotto is not great. He lost to Margarito in a very even matchup.. He loses more against top guys. or lost. He has been overrated a bit.
